I use to sign my mom's name when she let me use her card.

You don't you should not even have her card unless she is with you it would be different if she gave you a debit card and pin# to use with her permission. My kids use my debit from time to time and they know my pin# also , and always return it promptly.

When I was younger and my mom would give me her card, the store people always told me to sign my name, and then underneath it in parenthesis I would write (daughter). This is how they told me to do it and they (and my mom) were perfectly OK with this. As long as you have her permission, it is not illegal. Now, signing HER name could be interpreted as forgery if someone really wanted to get that picky - especially if you don't have permission.

Agree with Holly R. If she wants you to use her credit card regularly, she can get a separate card with upper limit for you. If this is once in a while situation, you should sign in such a fashion that it clearly indicates you are the signee on behalf of your mother. This also implies that it is not a stolen card. Definitely it will prove it is not a fraud.

You souldn't sign anything. it's not your card. If she wants you to use her account she can get you a card on that account with your name on it, then you sign it with your name and all charge receipts in your name.
