bubbasparxxxx2003 | How do I stop bill collectors from calling my work? |

Send them a cease and desist letter. |

Good luck. Yes, it is illegal but they do not care. We had one calling one of our associates. Being the manager I told them to stop and we are a place of business. They didn't stop. |

get their address or fax number and inform them in writing not to harass you at work and if they continue then you can take legal action against them because it's against the law once you inform them not to call for them to continue |

easy, you inform them that they are not allowed to call your place of work, period! Any further phone calls will be a violation of the Fair Credit Collection Act and would be subject to civil penalties and a criminal complaint of harrassment that will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
You have the right for them not to call your place of employment, but they don't want you to know you have that right. |

Tell them not to. Tell them now that you have asked them not to that it's illegal for them to continue. |

So sad how many people are grossly misinfomred...number one-look up the fdcpa. It's the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.It regulates collectors-it's also FEDERAL law.NOT A LAW VARYING BY STATE!!!Once you tell them ONCE to stop calling and they continue to call, they're violating federal law.IF you can pinpoint IF it's in fact a collector and NOT the original creditor(because they can do whatever they want)send them something in writing preferably to stop and point out they have ignored your requests, tell them you have no intention on paying the debt, and if you can fax and send a cert letter/notarized.IF they continue, you can file a federal complaint against this agency for violating the FDCPA.Nine times out of ten they settle. Also other vio's that get you paid are disclosing your debt to third parties(family, neighbors)calling saying it's even regarding a debt, and also if they make legal threats-they can't do that either.Calling before 8am and after 9pm your time, calling multiple times look it up-it's easy to read and spells it out. They aren't supposed to do do anything but aquire your location information, and that's it.We ll know they break the law and it's time to get their asses back. |

tell them that you will call the police if they call agian ,and by law they cant call more then once a week |

that's a good question; debt collection laws are different in very state, so it would be helpful to know where u live---in general, once you've made a collector aware that the cannot call you at work, they cannot; doesn't mean they won't try, however-------a really useful website i've used is pennlawyer.com, which has excellent information on a debtor's rights--it's info from a very knowledgeable debt collection attorney, Lawrence S. Rubin------u can easily check the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act online, also, and see how it applies to the state u live in---good luck |

it is simple, just send them a certified letter to stop, if they do not make a note of every time they call and file a lawsuit against them and when ever you get a chance call them repeatedly to remind them they now owe you money, and where is it |

I own a risk managements firm (aka collections agency) and I can tell you...
The FDCPA prohibits a collector from contacting you at your place of employment... #805.C. If the collector fails to comply with your request, you may contact the FTC and file a complaint.
Below is a link to the FDCPA guidelines (PDF Format) and a link to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). |

You have a job obviously, you borrowed the money with a promise to pay it back. Pay off your debts and they will quit bugging you. |

Yeah, by paying the bill.
I had that happen long ago, and it was so embarrassing to have bill collectors calling me at work.
All good now years later! |

You tell them this is your jobs number (they know that) and by law, they cannot continue to call you there. So just tell them they need to remove that number from their file - they will want another number tho. |

Don't take the calls. Hang up on them. Send a certified letter to them that you cannot speak with them at work. Never talk to creditors on the phone. Only communicate in writing.
Good luck. |

just tell them you have no intention on paying...
they aren't calling to harrass although it may feel that way... they make money on you paying... (a percentage of what you pay goes to the collection agency)... if you tell them you are not collecting b/c you have NO MONEY or NO INTENTION on paying then they will turn it over to another department but they will stop calling... |
