You can build credit by having something like house utilities under your name. Make sure you pay your bills on time, and you can build credit that way. Or have somebody open a joint account with you. You can also get a store credit card (Sears, Old Navy). Just make sure you pay off the balance off completely and on time EVERY month. After a while you will build up your credit rating. Besides that, you'll probably get scalped by unscrupulously credit companies who prey on people with little or no credit and scalp them with outrageously high interest rates. Also beware of "yearly fees". That's just part of starting out. Do your research first, and good luck. |

i saw someone suggest wells fargo... DO NOT DO IT!! they are seriously some of the most blood sucking tyrants i have seen!! they have had so many harrassemnt complaints its not even funny!! we had a car financed thru them, and they would call you several times a day for about 4 days before the payment is even due!! they get away with it because most people dont know its harrassment.. and if you happen to be late(within the 10 day grace period) they will ring your phone off the hook, even if you have made payment arrangements sayin you will have it paid within the 10 days...... and on top of that they give you like a 20% nterest rate... they are waaaayyy more toruble than they are worth. |

you can do internet search and get credit cards for beginners, stuff like that. to build credit, you would definitely want to have a checking and saving account open. Thats step one. Once you do get a credit card, you will have to always pay on time and the longer you have the card open, the more you will establish a credit history. |

Go get a small loan through your credit union and pay it with Direct Deposit. I got a 1000 loan and used it buy a cash car.
I paid it off at $25.00 a week direct deposit from my savings.
It took about 18 months and I paid extra when I could.
they then loaned me 6000 for a used car!
My payments are 129.00 a month. This is the best way to earn credit. |

Another option is to get a "Secure Credit Card". Say, for example, you need to get a secure Credit card with bank Of America. Just pay 300 $ and get one. Use this card to make purchases. Top up the credit card and use it again. This builds your credit history...and in about 6 months time, all banks will que up to give you a credit card.. |

Secured credit cards are a great way to rebuild your credit. Most secured credit card companies require a deposit equal to the credit line your are seeking. Make sure they report your payment monthly to the major credit bureaus. Making your payments on time monthly will increase your credit rating. You will also get you deposit returned to you after one year, turning your secured credit card into a unsecured credit card. |

First thing in establishing good credit is to always, always pay your bills on time. Every thing from utility bills to rent or your mortgage.
Then get a credit card or two, the big ones, Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express and when you use credit to buy something make sure you have the money in you bank account to pay your monthly credit card bill in full each and every month.
There are other factors involved in your credit score, but this is the big one.
For more information, as well as info on credit cards (Amex, Visa, MC, Prepaid cards, and cards for students) go to http://www.how-is-your-credit.info
The cards for students don't require credit. |

Some banks such as Wells Fargo offer Student Visa credit cards with a small credit line. It's a good way to have an unsecured credit to build your score. |
