you have a choice to tell them to not call again. my sister told a collector that they were harassing her and not to call again and legally they have to "cease and desist" those are the words she told them. Of course your other choice is to pay what you can to get them off your back. Make an arrangement with them or lie through your teeth to buy yourself some time. |

File a bankrupcy. They now have free license to do a lot of really nasty things to you. Then try not to get into that mess again. |

I know there is a lot of talk about paying only £1 per month to your creditors, however, the amount you pay back has to be relative to your financial circumstances, otherwise the repayment offer could be considered frivolous. Your creditors have to take 'fair and reasonable' action to assist you if you are in financial difficulty. You can ask the collectors to allow you time to rearrange your finances, but you must keep in regular contact with them. Take a look at the Financial Services Authority website for the regulator's advice on negotiating repayment. |

record the calls and after you have proof make a complaint ( I'm not sure with who but they're not allowed to threaten) then make a payment schedule with them to pay your responsibilites off |

Look up bill payer rights in your state. Find out what they can and can't do. When they call simply hang up on them, your phone is there for your convience not for them to harass you. |

First thing. Do you owe the money? If there is a dispute than they must leave you alone and you must send the dispute in writing. The laws are differ ant by states I believe but there are federal collection laws they are supposed to abide by. I say supposed to because they are crooks liars and jerks and they do not abide by lthe law. Do not believe any of their threats. They are liars! Get a lawyer or someone who can help if you cannot do it yourself. Document everything and record what they say on the phone. Tell them they are recorded and do it. Change your phone number if you have to. |

Keep all correspondence from them & to them. Yes, you can send them a letter & I encourage you to do so. Tell them what you think is going on and what you can do about it, how much you can pay-if not sure DON'T commit to a set amount tell them you will send as much as possible. If they still stay rude, send the 1 pound per month in the form of a check or moner order. It is my understanding that if they refuse payment & send bak the check or money order the bill is paid. Could be wrong, but I don't think I am-ask an attorney just to be safe:). |
