You're doing everything right. The main thing they look at is that you're paying off the balance every month. Or more importantly, there are no late payments and that the card is not always maxed out.

You don't even have to use it every time, just make sure you have a reasonable balance and you make payments on time. Doesn't matter about purchases under 20.

Keep doin what you're doin!

I have never heard anything about a specific amount of money being "bad" to put on your card. I have been told my numerous credit places that it doesn't matter how much you put on it as long as you pay it off every month. That is very good practice. I don't know about using to buy everything, but using it regularly is a good way to build your credit. It takes time, you have to be patient. You can check your credit score for free if you are interested to see what it has done for you so far...
I would also recommend looking for a car with an interest rate of 9.99% or lower. If a month came where you couldn't pay it in full, it would really suck with a 21% interest rate. Chase has really good credit cards with great interest rates.
Good luck.

The goal with credit is to build, build and build until the exact moment your credit score is peaked, and then apply for something new.

So the way you use your credit card depends on if you are building or just before applying.

If you are building...
- use your card aggressively and make many payments early so that the company realizes you need a higher limit. For example, buy a $500 laptop three times and make three $500 payments and sell them on eBay to show them you're moving $1500 through your account
- NEVER MAKE A LATE PAYMENT

If you are about to apply in a month or two...
- make sure your balance (on the last credit report) is no more than 10% of your total limit, so for $1,000, you want the last statement to show $90 or so
- make your credit card payment two weeks before it's due because the companies report the balance BEFORE you make your payment NOT after!!!

BONUS
- put your credit into a spreadsheet and follow it every purchase
- check online and make payment regularly
- call in often and ask for PROMO APRs
- call in occasionally and ask how to raise your limit

When you are peaking, pull your score and search around and find credit you can get with that score, www.creditboards.com has a good database that will tell you which report requires what score for what card based on where you live (companies pull certain reports based on the state)

FINALLY shoot for a GOAL!!!

For example, I'm going to get my score to 620 and then apply for a car loan. I'm going to get one more credit card from bank X and open a share secured loan at the credit union without a credit check.

WHEN YOU ARE DENIED
KEEP YOUR LETTER AND GO ONLINE WITHIN 30 days to get a FREE online copy of your credit report and put that in your file and when you apply for credit, ask the bank or company if you can show them your credit report instead of them checking it.

A finance professional at a Nissan dealership told me that depending on your situation, your score can drop up to 40 points everytime some company hits enter after asking you for your social security number to run your credit!!!

Three months is not really that long to establish a credit history. One thing I have learned working at a bank is that just because you pay your bills on time, or earlier, does not necessarily improve your credit score. Remember, lenders are lending you money to make money. They want to charge you as many fees and accrue as much interest as possible from you. That said, I am not advising you to pay your bills late. However, paying your total balance off every month will not help your credit any. Because the lender is not making any interest off of you. Pay your bill off every month when you have well established credit and use it for all of your purchases when you have a card that you can earn points or rewards with. I have not heard about buying things under $20 affecting your credit. I'm not sure what you meant about sending a check either. You could also do a secured loan through a financial institution. You put $500.00 in a CD for six months and then use that as collateral against a loan you take out for $500.00 from the same institution. You pay back the loan in six months and then you can take the money out of your CD if you want. It sounds silly, but it establishes a payment history. Basically, you are loaning yourself the $500.00 and then paying yourself back.

to get good score, you need to have at least 1 year and not to be late on paying back. and also just use half of the limit. that's important.

To raise credit score

1. Always pay on time or ahead of time.
2. maintain low balances on credit cards
3.To boost your score: Don't charge anything for at least 60 days before applying for a loan
4. keep your total potential debt to earnings load low - If you have a card with a $15000 credit line, you may ask them to reduce it to something more realistic, like $5000.
5. You should have a recent history of both installment or term (Car or house loans) and revolving credit.
6.To boost your score: Don't close unused accounts when you transfer debt.
7.To boost your score: Consider opening another credit-card account or two, or taking out a car loan or small bank loan.

You are not doing anything wrong. I believe you should apply for more credit cards. I have been in your situation for a long time as I was an international student and I had no credit history in this country whatsoever. My first card was called Emerging card and I had an annual fee on it besides a high interest, just like you. What helped my credit history later on was a car loan ( although a very small one on an old car). I'm not saying that you should go apply for a car loan but as funny as it seems, the more debt you build, the better it will be. Make sure you always pay your debt because credit scores can go down very fast. After my Bank of America Emerging card and my car loan, I applied to Washington Mutual credit card and I love it. It even tells me what my credit score is whenever I want ( I check it online) I think that's an awesome feature and I would encourage everyone to apply for it. My credit line limit keeps increasing as well with this last card. In the meantime I applied for a Citibank credit card but I only used it once. I suggest that you open a few and try to use them. Don't open them and keep them inactive and always always always pay your bills. Oh don't forget that Best buy and Macy's cards help a lot too and they are easy to get. Make sure you never forget to check if you have balance on those.
I hope my answers help.

Just buy a few small things and pay it off right on time, but mostly use cash because if you pay the credit bill late, you will get bad credit. Try not to use your card so much because it will get you into a bad situation. Also, as long as you pay off your bills, buying small things isnt bad.
