You fill out an application for a credit card. You can look online, or at your bank. No, you don't pay to get a credit card or pay for it even if you don't use it. Unless you are getting a secured credit card. Those are the ones where you put like $500 into an account and that is your credit limit. |

I suggest that you forget about it. If you don't understand the basics, you will end up getting screwed. They never arrested anyone for paying cash. |

Do not get a credit card. Instead get a second job, direct deposit and start saving your money. Start watching `til debt do us part` on TV and be grateful you do not have debt. Credit is so easy to accumulate and after you accumulate significant debt you will pay hundreds of dollars per month in maintenance fees on your debt! I mean you will be paying just your insurance, and interest fees. Make a multiplication table for yourself and figure out just how much money is over one year, for example 15$/day is 5475$/year. Trips look great, food looks tasty, clothes seem indespensible this and that, bills go on there to free up cash, it is like sweeping things under the rug or hiding them in the closet. Then the haunting starts, the sleepless nights, the shame, the secret, the fears, the feeling of owing. Just save for everything and be strict about spending on things. Dare to be different, to do your own thing and in your own way and take your time to find solutions. In the end non conformity with no debt and money saved and self control will be a real credit to your life. |

noooo, don't do it, credit cards are eviiiil, bad news, save your money and buy everything straight up, cash money. wait until you want to buy a house and get a mortgage, that's an okay form of credit because you have equity backing it up. |

first educate yourself as much as you can before applying because they can rip you off with huge interests and late payments fees.
check bankrate.com or wikipedia.com for info on credit cards and how they are used.
God Bless. |

You have to pay every dime you spend back, WITH INTEREST. That means your paying more for the item that you purchased with your card. |

Credit cards are bad news unless you have quite a bit of discipline
Credit cards are best used for rewards and cash back programs...
I'm sure you're still in high school. Wait a few years. Keep it around only for emergencies. If you do buy something with it, try to pay it off 100% before you are charged interest. |

Credit cards are free. If you don't use one, you don't have to pay anything. If you do use one, you'll pay either a minimum amount, an intermediate amount, or the total amount each month. Generally, you can get a credit or debit card from your bank. If you are online and see offers for credit cards, give your address and in a few weeks you'll get as many offers as you can handle (they'll sell your name and address). There are some exceptions, like Diner's card and others, where you must pay a fee to get the card, but this is more for very high income people. When you apply for a card, they ask about your residence address, job, income, and so on, and give you a credit limit based on that information. Of course, they may deny you a card if you have no income. |
