How do you add good things to your credit?
I am 24, will be 25 in June. I have a 4 year old son. I don't own any cars, rent any cars or furniture, etc. I don't have a cell phone, or even a bank account. I do rent the top half of a duplex, and I pay all bills, but water. I have been own my own since I was 18 and have had my own place since that time. But my credit report shows that I owe close to $900 for a credit card, but that is all. I want to be able to add things to my credit report/history so that I don't need other people to help me get a car, for instance by them being a cosigner, however, I don't know how to do that. I want to know what little things can I do now so that I can build on my credit and make it good too.

Pay down your debts will boost up your credit score, so try to pay down the $900 credit card debt, also open a checking account and maintain it in good status/standing.

The best way is to get a credit card. I suggest one with like a 200-300 dollar limit. Use it only for gas or the grocery store and pay it off every month. It will give you a good credit history on your credit report and raise your score. Hope this helps.

You can apply for a second credit card or charge card as long as you use it from time to time and pay on time. Keep in mind it is not good to have to many items on your credit nor is it good to continuously be applying for credit. It sounds like you are trying to build credit history, and by making monthly payments to your existing card should do the trick-over time.

Get a vredit card and make small purchases once a month and pay it on time get one with a low balance. Or try getting on from a department store, but remember small purchases and paid on time for a few months should bring it up.

The only way to "add" good credit is to get credit and pay it off. You really need a checking account right away! You are not get anything without that. After that if you can pay down your credit card. Experts say that consumers should aim to keep the balance on their credit card accounts no higher than 35 percent of their credit line. That means if you have $1000 credit limit on your card, try to keep the balance no higher than $350.

Make small purchases using you credit card and pay it off right away. Take out a secured loan and make on time payments every month. Things like that.

Good Luck!

this is what i did i got a target card and another store card can't remember name now but then i would go shopping i would make sure that i had the cash on me then pay for items with store card and go straight to customer service area and pay it that same visit it takes a while you could do that with another credit card to for grocery shopping with like visa ,american express just don't spend more than you have for those items then come home get on puter and pay it online

There is a way to add items that your creditors are not reporting to your report but you have to pay the credit bureau and the item doesn't get updated. But things like rent and utilities wouldn't really fall into that category.

The best thing you can do to improve your credit is to pay off that credit card balance. Carrying balances of more than 30% of your limit hurt your score. Much better to only charge what you can afford to pay in full and on time each month.

Why buy on credit when you can save up and pay cash? When you buy on credit it costs you more. Credit sucks!
