you could get a loan, a small one, say £500. it'lll be high interest, but will get you on the credit ladder.
or you could get a credit card. they'll give you one with a £200 limit if you've a low score, try capital one!

spend a little but always pay off in time. this will build your score

The best way to build a credit score is to get a unsecured or secured credit card. Try to get 1 or 2 cards and keep your balances below 50% of your total credit line (balances over 50% decreases your credit score) and make your paymnets on time each month. After a few payments you will start to build a credit history and a FICO score.

I have listed a free consumer site below that contains a list of credit card comapnies that issue credit to people with bad to no credit history.

when you find out please let me know.without credit you cant even get a retail card people keep saying to get.we were victims of identity theft and after getting that stuff cleared off we have zero score.let me know if you figure it out ok?

Start by getting some bills in your name and pay them off promptly. Then apply for a credit card with a low limit, like $250 - $500. You might be able to negotiate one with your bank, but you could also try large department stores that offer credit cards. Then every month, put about $20 on the card and pay it off promptly. Or else pay just one bill with the card and then pay off the card. Don't miss a payment. After a few months, go ask the bank if they will raise your limit. When they do, again, don't put more than $20 or one bill. If you're doing it through a store, buy one large item and pay it off slowly, meeting the minimum payments promptly.

The longer you keep the card going, without missing a payment, the better you're doing. Eventually, when you get a card with a limit you are happy with, put it away and don't use it.

Get a secured credit card or a retail card like Sears. Use no more than 30% of your balance at one time and pay them off every month.

And by the way, a 0 score is not impossible, I see them every week.

zero score is impossible, if you mean you have no credit thats different. you can get a credit card and spend small amounts on it, then when you get your bill pay it off. if you make consistent monthly payments, you will build credit

you can get a credit card use it, pay it off when the bill comes so that you are not paying interest then after you have it for a while and you prove to the debtor that you are responsible ask for an increase in the limit. You can also ask a parent who has a long standing credit card to request one for you. You do not have to use it, you could actually give it to your parents when it comes in the mail that way they feel comfortable about it. Be careful though, make sure they have paid the bill on time always and that it is not maxed out.

A good place to start is a local merchant, furniture stores are good about building credit. Jewelry stores, local electronics stores not chain stores like best buy. Where ever you go be sure to ask if they report to the credit bureaus if they do not it does you no good. Once you get something from some where buy something small every month and PAY IT OFF IN FULL even if its a pair of socks..Credit building is all about consistency not so much the dollar amount of your credit limit.

The safest and best way is to get a secure credit card from your bank. How it works is you put say $300 bucks in your savings and they lock that money so you can't withdraw it. That way if you can't pay your credit card off they will take the $300 dollars and pay it off.
