How do you get bad credit?
give me some examples
Additional Details
is it true if you go over your half way mark for your credit card limit, its considered bad? I went over my half way limit, but I don't miss payments and I pay $100, 200, sometimes 300 more than my minn. payment.

Easy I have poor credit wait a sec I will give you a list.......

Not paying your bill's on time to credit lenders like catalouge accounts and credit cards. This is called a default.

You also get graded on a credit check by your age, whether you live in a good area eg: council estate or bought area.

Also by how long you have been with your bank.

I have bad credit because of the 1st one I listed I have got myself in debt with catalouges and credit cards and I now have bad credit.

EDIT>>>>>>No you can spend as much as you like within your limit as long as you pay your minimum or more on time each month you will be fine.

By spending a lot of money on your credit card I think

My mom explained credit to me and I think that would be something

Well I guess if you're in dept and you can't pay the bank what you owe them

ARCHER
not paying your bills ontime, junkmail, identity theft, too many credit inquiries, two much debt, too many credit cards, a new car, go to www.truecredit.com, lifelock, lexington law, check these companies out, cause they will help do you wonders if your ever stuck in a rut

If the question is to be taken seriously.

1. write NSF cheques ~ bounce payments to anyone
2. don't pay your credit cards regularly or at all
3. particularly, don't pay your utilities and telephone services
4. abuse your banking privileges by regularly writing cheques that can't be cleared because the bank account is empty or hasn't the proper credit line set up.
5. beat up a mortgage company or finance company by not paying your liabilities.

Just pick two of the list, and if this is the goal ~ become a bad credit risk ~ you'll be off to the races :):):)

You get bad credit if you don't pay bills, if you pay late, if you pay slow, or someone uses your personal info to set up fraud accounts and then charges to them.

You get bad credit by not paying your bills on time.

Carrying balances on your credit cards that are more than 30% of your available limit will lower your score but won't give you "bad credit" as long as you pay the bill on time.

There are lots of other things that can lower your score, like too many credit applications in a short time.

Your age and place you live have NOTHING to do with your credit.
Want bad credit? Here are ways.
1: IRS lien, big drop
2: Dont pay creditors on time (30day, 60day, 90day, 120day, or ChargeOff). The higehr the days the more your score drops.
3: Close off old accounts. THis doesnt give you bad credit, but reduces the "Average age of accounts".
4: Judgment against you
5: Something getting sent to a collection agency and being reported as such
6: Paying a collection that is years old and having the collection agency report it as "Paid". SOmething 5+years old its better just leaving it and letting it get deleted by itself when it is 7+yrs old.
7: File bankrupcy
8: Default on ANYTHING (Student Loans, etc)
9: Repo (voluntary or involuntary, doesnt matter. repo is repo)

Is that enough for now?

As long as you are making at least the minimum payments on that card you would be fine. If you periodically go near your limit, consider increasing it, so that way it looks like you are under at least half. It seems like you are responsible enough to keep it that way.

-If you ever default on a loan = serious bad (almost as bad as bankrupt trust me)
-If you are more than 60 or 90 days late often (real bad)
-if you are more than 30 days late often (bad)
-if anything goes to collections -real bad.
-move a lot - negative on credit
-non stable employment - negative
-multiple credit applications in a short time -negative
-have more credit than you can handle (too many cards and loans) can also look poorly.

Keep a minimum of loans and credit cards in check and paid regularly and you should have an awesome credit score and would get you the best rates for a mortgage or car loan in the future.

irishcapper
Its not bad to go over 50% of your limit as long as you keep it under control and pay it back down to 30% before you use again. The credit score likes to see credit cards that are only 30% used meaning if your limit is 1000 a balance of 300 will keep your score good. I f you go over on an average the score will determin your having a problem living and are using your credit cards to live and consider you on the way to filing bk.

tcfoos
1. Be late on a payment.
2. Have a collection account for a bill you didn't pay.
3. Have someone you didn't pay sue you for the money creating a legal judgment on your credit report.
4. Don't pay your child support on time.
5. Don't pay the IRS or your state of resedence the taxes you owe.

It all comes down to bad credit= don't pay
