I'd try to do a balance transfer to a card on http://www.cardweb.com You also may want to consider getting a second job or cutting your spending or both. You need to start living below your means rather than above your means. Paying more than the minimums really help as well as this will dramatically lower the time you will keep paying on those cards and thus will lower the interest paid.

You might also want to use Prosper.com (a highly ethical site in my opinion as borrowers set the maximum rate in which they wish to pay) if you are a D or higher borrower (C, B, A, or AA).

Check the Prosper site out via:
http://www.clarkhoward.com - a consumer warrior radio host
http://www.bbb.org - the Better Business Bureau
http://www.ftc.gov - Federal Trade Commission

If you found that helpful, please reciprocate by adding /join/stockwatcher to http://www.prosper.com. That would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.prosper.com - I get no credit for the referral
http://www.prosper.com/join/stockwatcher - I get credit

Take care. I hope you found this helpful.

Stop using the card ! Talk to the credit card company and set up a good payment plan. Pay off as much each month as possible. The "minimum payment" only benefits the credit card company as they collect interest every month and you are paying interest on what you spend and gradually paying it on the interest. Make it a priority to pay down this debt as quickly as possible.

Pay more than the minimum.
Don't put anything else on credit until you have fixed your problem.

With a strict budget. List all your *necessary* living expenses (rent, utilities, groceries, SAVINGS; eating out every night is NOT a necessary expense). Then add in incidentals (a small weekly "blow" fund for a CD, lunch or dinner out, book, etc.). Now put the rest on the credit card (f you only pay the minimum, you'll owe for the next 40 years).

Anytime you get any kind of bonus or surprise income, take a few dollars out to spend and put the rest towards your debt. Take on a second job and use all that money for debt-reduction. Getting out of debt is no easy job (been there), but it is possible (am there!)

As for savings - you MUST set aside some money every paycheck for an emergency fund ($500-1000) UNTIL you are debt free. Otherwise, you'll pay down your debt, have an emergency, and charge it right back up.

For more tips and info, check out Dave Ramsey's website (link below). He helped me, he can help you, too. Don't be normal. Normal is $8000 in debt with no emergency fund. Debt-free is the way to be!

What is your idea of huge?

I use balance transfers to new cards that are 0% interest on transfers for a year plus.

first thing--call and cancel the card so the debt goes no higher.
second-just start making those monthly payments until you see the end.
third-avoid late fees because they add up quick

One monthly payment at a time.

get help from a debt management company, you need to sort out a budget and get the interest frozen, with out freezing the interest you are on to a loser.

if you are in the UK then http://www.payplan.com/ help they are free to use, if your not in the UK then some of the general advice should be universal but as far as laws go things will be different so you will have to find a company in your country.
