I went there and read...a LOT. After doing some research there, my credit is all cleaned up now.
It will take some persistance and time though (maybe 3-4 months...longer if it's REALLY bad), but it'll get there. You'll need to be able to send a few certified letters also, so that'll take a little $$ investment, but it's worth it. I have an AMEX card now...couldn't get one before.
I don't have anything to gain from anyone going to the website...it's just a very useful tool if you want to fix your credit.

Go to a not for profit credit counseling course. They offer them at community colleges.
Do not pay a company to do it, they are in it to make money off your record. Good Luck! |

"boosting credit score" is something the lending industry has made up. :) your score is only important if you need to loan money. it's not about your own self worth, but they make it seem so.
"straighten" out your credit by paying off all debts.
and learn, by not loaning other people's money for frivolous things at exorbitant rates.If this is too hard for you to digest, give this answer a TD. |

I have been paying on past accounts, then I found a prepaid debit card from Capital One, when you deposit enough every month you get an actual credit card that requires no high payments, Its not like those you see at Orchard Bank, its slow, but it works. try that. |

Use a Secured Card: Secured cards offer you a credit limit that is nearly same as the deposit you make. You should choose a card that reports to all the major credit bureaus, does not have an application fee or heavy annual fees, and becomes a regular, unsecured card after a year or so of timely payments. Go for department store and gas cards. These cards are simplest unsecured plastic available. After using your secured card for some months, apply for either of these and another one after about 6 months. Do not rush headlong into this process, because applying for lot of credit in a short span of time can harm your score.
