you could get a credit card through your bank most likely if you got a job thats what i did. also you can get one that you put like $200 of your own money on it and use like a credit card and keep paying that back that will make you get good credit but the same if you get a regular credit card and you keep paying it back you can get good credit that way too! Good luck |

Ironically, it can be tougher for a young adult who's working to get a bank credit card than for a student with no income.
That's because credit issuers figure that as a long as a child is a dependent, parents will bail him or her out of credit trouble. Once you're on your own, there's no guarantee of a parental safety net.
Nevertheless, you should be able to get a Visa or MasterCard in a relatively short time by following one of these strategies:
Start with the bank or credit union where you have your checking account. If that institution also issues credit cards, it may be more receptive to an application from a customer, especially if you're employed and haven't bounced any checks.
Get a credit card from a retailer or department store. These cards generally aren't a good deal -- even with the discounts they offer on initial purchases -- because interest rates tend to be high. But retail cards are relatively easy to get, and you can build a credit history in six months to a year by making purchases and paying for them on time.
If you pay the bill in full each month, the high interest rate won't matter. Just don't get carried away. Limit yourself to no more than two cards -- one at a department store and one at a specialty store where you know you'll shop. After six to 12 months of prompt payments, apply again for a Visa or MasterCard.
Apply for a secured card, which requires you to make a savings deposit equal to your credit line. For a listing of secured cards, go to www.cardratings.org or www.cardweb.com.
Ask the issuer if you can eventually be upgraded to unsecured status. That way, you can qualify for a lower rate and an increased credit limit without adding to the savings account.
Another way for first-timers to establish a credit rating is to apply for a loan that you repay before you actually get the money. After repaying a $500 loan, for example, you'll have $500 plus a good payment record -- and the rest will be credit history. |

What I did is have someone with credit co-sign a small personal loan for me from a bank. The money was put into a savings account and used to make payments against the loan. After about 6 months I paid the loan off completely but then had good enough credit to get credit cards. The whole process cost me about $50-100 in interest or something along those lines, but my credit has been amazing ever since. In fact the house I just bought I did stated-income which is basically buying it on your credit rating alone without even having to prove you have a job. |

Department stores hand them out like samples @ Costco on Sundays.
Also, if you have a bank account of any kind you can apply for a Visa or MasterCard through your bank usually.
I would suggest talking to someone at your bank for help and advice. (Department store cards have VERY HIGH interest rates!) |

I am with you...I have no credit history, and applied for about 10 different cards in order to build history.
Every single time I got denied.
My girlfriend on the other hand, who was late on payments on several occasions, can apply for one and get accepted.
Is bad credit better than no credit? |

Apply for a store credit card; like walmart, old navy...
Or open a checking account and get a line of credit, it will take 500-1000 to open... |

are you a student? because if you are try applying for a student card, it might not give you a great limit, but it's a credit card. they assume most students have never had a card before. i know chase and citi cards both have student cards. |

Hi, years ago J C Penney company had a special credit card for young people with a low amount you could charge. Call their "customer business office" and see if they still have it available....or go to your family's bank and talk to someone there. Best of luck! |

you could apply for a student visa on-line, or inquire at your bank...or, if you have been employed for a while, and apply saying that you've never had credit, you'll likely get one if you make enough. I did when I was 18...but beware, I know everyone says that they won't max it out when they first get it, but a lot of people do...but if you're good with money, all the power to you! : ) |

apply through your bank for one of their credit cards...they will give you one with a small credit line, between 2 and 300 , use it to help establish your credit, to apply for larger ones . |

Get a secure credit card meaning you put money in the bank, apply and they give you a credit card on that money in the account. Maybe I am not explaining it all. Go into any bank and see a personal banker and they will explain it all. |
