If you mean you bought something from a shop, then it can take 2 weeks, or even longer, just the same as writing a cheque.
If you take money from the hole in the wall, then it comes out instantly.. |

it depends on the type of card
visa electron, it is "allocated" immediately, but might not come out of the account for 2-3 days.
standard visa debit card. this uses the same system as standard visa so it can be anything from 1 day to 6 months, although typically they appear in 2-3 working days. watch out because people often forget about them if they take longer than 2 days and spend the money, ging overdrawn and costing bank charges (and you think they delay it for any other reason than providing themselves with income oppertunities.......) |

i work in a bank and there is officially no timescale although most transactions should come out within 2/3 working days - i used my debit card in a shop in my home villiage over a period of a month and they came out altogether on the same day 2 months later. You have to just make sure you have budgeted for any debit card payments and look at your statement. |

It can take ages, just depends on when the people you paid collect it.
They will freeze the funds though so you cant spend the money thats promised to them. So if you have £100 in your account and you buy something worth £10, they might take the money for a week but you will only have £90 that you are able to spend, even though it says you have £100 in your account.
You are still earning interest on that money though till they take it so its not all bad. |

At my bank the Abbey the money comes off the debit card straight away but it takes up to 4 days for the transaction to show on my mini statements. |

2 or three business days. What ever you buy with your bank card on the weekend won't clear until the up coming Tuesday or Wednesday. |
