You are allowed to have as many as companies will issue to you. However the more you have the more the next lender will hesitate to trust you for fear you will max them all out and stiff him for what you charged on his new card. Plus if you ever lost your wallet with all those cards they would be all over the criminal world being used for luxuries before you could even remember the names of the ones you lost. |

Do you want a whole bunch? Word to the wise - credit cards are NOT a good thing. They're a trap.
Limit yourself with one that gives you cash back, points, or miles. And say no to all the tempting offers you get in the mail. It's best to always shred those offers if you can, so some loser can't fill it out for you and spend it for you. |

You can have as many as you apply and are approved for. However, I would caution you - on each person's credit report is a credit score. The higher the score the better. Each time your credit report is pulled by a creditor (when you apply for a loan, credit card, mortgage), your credit score is reduced.
Also, as a good rule of thumb, try to keep your credit card balance lower than or equal to roughly 30% of the credit limit. The closer your balance creeps to the limit of the card, your credit score will drop.
Your credit score is important, and becoming more important with each day. Did you know that a bad credit score can keep you from getting a new job? ...renting an apartment? ...getting a good rate on car insurance? ...buying a house? ...getting financing for a large purchase? It is a very important issue today!

Unfortunately, there is no limit. I have known people with many and they have balances on all of them. Some people can not avoid buying every little do dad that they take a fleeting fancy to. Then one day reality catches up with them, normally when they can no longer afford to make the 15 payments a month on their credit card bills, even though each payment is only $20.
If you have more than one, and can not control your desires for worldly possions you are asking for big trouble down the road. Even one is too much temptation for some people. |

I'am not really sure it all depends on how much creditors will lend you.But be careful that you don't have two many credit cards ,cause they can get you into trouble financialy.If at all possible pay with cash,check,debt card,cause at least it is payed for right away. |

If you are a smart person---NONE! This is the most criminal enterprise ever to be born-destroying millions of people!
Reality though says we need ONE! That would be used for car rental and hotel reservations only which would be paid for in CASH when service is rendered!!!
If you find yourself in dire need then make darn certain it's credit limit does not exceed one weeks paycheck! That is sufficent credit for the above purpose and you know you would be able to pay the bill when due!
Don't become a victim like all the other people who live beyond their means just trying to keep up with the JONES!!!!!!
My grandfather once told me to live within your means you must always put 10% of any currency that flows through your hands in the bank. You must NOT have a mortgage payment that exceeds one weeks pay! If you don't have the money in your pocket today to buy what it is your after, GO WITHOUT UNTIL YOU DO!!!!!!!
Needless to say, my grandfather died a very wealthy man and he worked every day of his life! Guess it's good information! |
