How many credit cards are too many that start to hurt your credit?
Consider they all have very low or no balance.

One is too many, but they usually do not go by the number of cards you have. they go by your total available credit the max total on all cards (wether it is 1 or 6) then they compare to what you have charged, They consider your ability to pay back the loan (income coming in) then they take into consideration payment history.. You should carry no more than 50% of your max credit limit on your cards. Pay your small ones off first.......

Joe
Your maximum score (associated with Credit Cards) is four. Actually LESS than that number ... or MORE than that number is a negative impact.

That said, while the number of cards is a factor in your credit scoring ..... it is a relatively small piece of the score. Your balances relative to your credit availability, your pay record, and how long the accounts have been open have a much higher impact.

Hope this helps!

it depends on your credit to depth ratio getting a 2 unlimited cards should be enough

The balance doesn't matter.

The number doesn't matter.

Do you pay your bill on time? Yes.

Do you miss payments? No.

Then don't worry about it.

If you are missing payments, then you are hurting your credit.

Insidious
just one can hurt your credit if you don't make your payments on time, so that is up to you, if your good with making payments on time then its up to you...have as many as you like or can have...but you have to be smart about them!

Using credit cards is like throwing your money
away, and if you have more than one,it.s to
much.if you stop now using them,10 years from
now you will still being paying on them.
No balance now,but as one gets to much, you use the no bal.one on on on on till the bal.
is to high.you borrow from one to pay on a
nother.on on on on and so on.

It's not that straightforward, credit scores are relatively complex statistical models. If you have 15 credit cards, but paid them on time for the last 10 years, you might have a great credit score. If you have 15 credit cards and you got them all in the last year, your credit score will probably be negatively impacted.

please have not more , than 5 credit cards, best to way few-3 credit cards and 30% used up limit. if you max all your cards it hurting your credit score, it is better to spread your cards up to 30 % each. than have one max out.

10 open credit cards with debt can hurt. Empty credit card don't hurt you that much. if you dont use them closed to minimum amount.

It depends what kind of credit cards. There is not a problem in having a MC/Visa, an Amex, and several different store cards. But having over 4 or 5 general credit cards I have read can seem suspicious for some reason even if you don't have big balances.

it depends on youre income and youre credit lines trust me if you make under 30k avoid having more than 3 you should get one gas card one store card and one big card tops no more and if you make 100k you can have up to6 before they star t affecting youre credit ive been there plus i used to work for amex i was well trained and trust me p.s mark this top please

irishluckily
It doesn't hurt you until you have trouble paying them so if can easily ay the bills then go for that number of cards.
