It must be wonderful to be debt free, in this day in age i wonder how people do it! My debt started when i was 18, i was forever being offered credit at the bank, every shop i went in etc. When you have no responsibilities and no ties it seems easy to pay the monthly payments and i guess may people like i did just think why wait and save for something when i can have it now and pay for it after. Not really sure where i got this mind set from, my parents are very good with money. I am not by any means saying they're rich but they have a new car, mortgage virtually paid off, holiday every year and a bit of savings. Maybe this is why i went the way i did?! Who knows?!?!
I am now 25 and have two small children. I regret the day i ever took any sort of credit out as i am still paying off the lifestyle i had at 18.
One thing i have learnt though is the value of money, but admitedly have learnt the hard way. |

Try this first:
The first thing you will need to do is call the three major credit reporting agencies and request a free copy of your credit report.
www.equifax.com
www.experian.com
www.transunion.com
Then once you get those in the mail (7-10 days) there will be a dispute form attached to the reports. Fill those out for every negative account on your report regardless. Fax, mail go online whatever it takes to get those submitted as quickly as possible. Then those companies must answer your dispute within 30 days or it is removed from your credit report completely. So that will eliminate some things, hopefully.
Then make sure you pay all your revolving accounts to below 50% of your credit limits.
Make sure that you make all your payments no more than 20 days from the date it is due.

I cut all mine up except one. I only use that to buy phone credit.
I pay my way in cash each day now. A credit card can be useful when buying a holiday over the phone though. |

the only credit card I use is really a debit card with a visa logo which makes it easier to use a different places but won't let me spend more than I have. |

well i was like that got credit cards, loans, catalogues and i spent and spent and spent and now i am stuck with the debt. i hate it and i wish i never got in to it. i loved living of my credit cards but now i hate them, i dont recommened ne one gets one. they are bad news i now perfer money and then i no i dont have any interest to pay like now i am paying stuff back and i am paying morein interest them i am actually am paying stuff of. |

Most people go on welfare (dole), borrow or get a second job when they can no longer use their credit cards for income.
The vast majority of credit card holders do not live on their cards. It is more common with struggling college students, people who are starting new jobs or companies, have lost their jobs, divorced, have large hospital bills, little or no income or their spouse dies.
The credit cards will be closed if no payment arrangement can be met (about 60 days) and eventually go to charge-off. (6 months) Then the debt is sent to a collections agency which is usually an outside firm. If not part of an subsequent bankruptcy, then the debt remains on the credit bureau files for 7 years. |
