You can get help for that.
Contact the power company and talk to them. The big providers usually have programs to assist people.
Keep on trying and things will get better. A prayer or two might be the difference. |

power bill can be expensive. i don't think your at that low of a poverty leavel. 10 is not being able to buy food. I'd say , without any other info your a 5. I would contact a local church show them proff of income and they will prop help! Good luck |

Ask family or friends if you can borrow the money. It is for a very good reason sure someone can help. If not call your power company to see if they can setup a extension or even a payment plan. I've done that before myself and the payment plan worked out. Hope this helps |

At least you have the power other live in boxes and huts with ever seeing electricity, no new clothes to wear every day, eat out of dumpsters and trash cans. So your 1 -10. 1 being the poorest? Id say a good 7. Far from poor to me. |

I have to answer a 10. That is one of the few things that I pay for first off. It used to be the 3rd thing I paid for every month but now I don't have a car payment or rent/mortgage, so it is the first thing I pay off each month.
The good news is that you can call the electric company and they will work with you. They could stretch it over 3 months. |

Sounds like a budgeting issue to me. BUT we all have hard times where we struggle from month to month. Pay it ASAP, even if it is a week or two late, they won't shut it off but you have to pay it.
Electric companies do have hardship programs though if you are really "poor". Meaning, if you are having a hardship then they will let your power stay on for so long according to state laws. |

8. 1 would be you're rich, and 10 would be a bum on the street. If you can't pay the electic bill, chances are you don't have the funds to pay for other bills like gas, rent,etc.
Learn some better budgeting or pick up a second job like babysitting, etc. Don't go with payday loans. They are a rip-off and outlawed in many states.
If they're going to cut you off, then I would take the last of my paycheck and stock up on batteries, candles, cans of tuna, etc. |

I am going to assume you live in the south...because pay is really bad down here and so is the heat and I dont know how people are answering this saying that you are just above whores and hobo's?! that is just rude! And for the poster that said you should budget for thes things is an idiot....I budget for mine too but when it jumps up $100.00 + dollars in a month you really cant budget that! Dont worry you should be able to get an extension from the power company! good luck! |

probably 5 or 6. depends on other debts also. I gets better I promise. I had to borrow diaper money last week. Just prioritize things. Sometimes I let other bills go so I can pay the ones that are in jeopardy of being cut off, picked up, or could cause legal issues.
Just remember it could always be worse.
My other peoples standards I would be poor also. That is OK I might not have much material wise (Had the computer over a year before I could afford Internet.), but I am blessed with the best family I could ask for.
Hold your head up, I bet you are very resourceful when need be. |

If you're sitting with a computer turned on I wouldn't say you're poor maybe just lacking in financial sense. |
