How to build credit? Credit card recommendations?
I have little to no credit. I got a credit starter loan and have been paying on it for a year now but i still can't get approved for things because i don't have enough credit. What are some ways I can build my credit?? I was wanting to get a credit card but I don't want to get screwed over by hidden fees. I dont know really anything about credit cards and I know how dangerous they can be, but i am determined to raise my score. Any ideas?

Here's the best way to establish a credit history:

1) Establish a checking and savings account: Lenders see bank accounts as a sign of stability. Make a regular transfer from your checking to your savings on every payday and leave the money there....this shows you can handle a regular payment, plus you are saving up some cash that can be used as collateral on a debt.

2) Do you have any monthly bills that you can establish in your name? Do you have a cell phone that is in your parents name that you can perhaps switch to yours jointly? Paying bills on time shows that you can handle making payments on a regular basis and you are responsible in that manor.

3) Use someone elses good credit to improve your own: Set up a joint debt with a parent or someone with good credit. That way you get approved and then work your butt off to pay it off as soon as possible. This will help boost your credit rating as well.

4) Apply got a credit card: IT's the simpliest form of credit to get. If you can't get a regular credit card, ask for a secured credit card. A secured credit card is where you give them $500 for a deposit and they give you a $500 limit on your card to make sure they get paid. After you've shown that you can handle the debt request a regular card and get your deposit back. A secured card witll help give you a credit score as well. USe your credit card on a regular basis, whether you need to or not, just make sure you pay it off before the interest kicks in. Every once in a while rack it up all the way and pay if off all the way within the month (never spend more than your monthly paycheck is...you'll never catch up!

5) Get a store credit card: Again, very easy to get.

6) after you've used your credit card for a little while, try to get the smallest loan possible, like a $3000 loan or something, where it will have monthly payments. Pay it off faster than the scheduled payments, but not right away in one big lump sum.

I built my credit with creditloader.com loans.

Here's how it works:

1. Borrow money, at least $5,000., just to hold it on deposit and not touch it. If you agree to just hold the money, you can get the loan with NO CREDIT CHECK from creditloader.com

2. Make interest payments on the loan for at least 6 months.

3. Give back the deposit to pay off the loan.

When you are done, you have a $5,000. loan paid off early on your credit report. That's a SERIOUS boost.

It is kind of difficult to get your first credit card. Especially now with so much economic uncertainty. Most likely your application will be decline by every bank. Banks even won’t bother to send you a letter, explaining why you’ve been rejected. However you can apply for prepaid credit card. It is almost guaranteed, that you’ll be accepted.

The best way I found to do this is to borrow money just to hold it on deposit, make some payments, then give back the deposit to pay off the loan. You can do this with no credit check at creditloader.com

The type of card you choose is dependent upon how you plan on paying your card and what you're looking for. If you plan on paying your balance in full each month (and they calculate interest based on your average daily balance for one statement cycle instead of over a 2 month billing period) then there is no reason for you not to do cash back or points because even though those cards have higher interest rates if you're paying off in full every month by the payment due date you're not going to be charged finance charges.

If you have $500 in a saving account, convert it into a secured credit cards. Most banks can set it up for you. Also make sure they belong to the credit bureaus.

Getting a credit card is not necessarily getting 'rolled-over' so to speak. Yes, there are charges, but, it is up to the consumer to limited them. I've had credit cards my whole life, I had car loans, houses loans, building loans...etc...and, no problem. The secret is be true to your word... you honor what you have bought by paying for it... You see the main problem is people want to charge and by some miraculous way not have to pay any interest or penalties for late payments...it is quite simple...companies make money by lending people money, but, somehow the borrowers forget the deal so to speak.

So, rest assure you will be okay with a credit card payment, house payment, car payment if it is relative to what you earn. Keep a log of all your payments and what you can afford and what you can't, and, I assure you will be fine...just be responsible!

Credit is a good thing if a person is responsible for his/her actions. Live within your means...earn, save...plan for retirement, a raining day, and for the future....live free.

In order to build credit you have to start somewhere. I would recommend getting a credit card with a very low credit limit. Charge something on it every month and then pay it off in full every month. Never carry a balance and you won't have to pay interest. Also, make sure that you pay your phone, electricity, water, gym membership etc bills in full and on time every month. In order to get better credit you have to demonstrate that you are responsible enough to pay the money back.

Building excellent credit is going to take a lot of time and patience. I read some good advice from these other answers. I just want to add that any agreement between two entities should involve a contract. Read the contract carefully. Like someone before me said, honor your word. But you must be sure you know to what it is that you are agreeing. If you've been making responsible decisions regarding credit for a year, then it seems like you're on the right track. Keep checking your credit score once a year. This is how many times you can check it for free. It can be fun to watch your score build and build. Don't get caught up in the services that charge you to look at your credit score. They are a rip off, unless you feel that you need to see your score more than once a year. transunion.com experian.com equifax.com Good luck in your credit travels.

Depending on your current credit score, you can get choices of credit cards. Some of these cards are listed at the site below. It's possible to get a credit card even with no credit history or even with a bad credit history. The best way to up your credit score is by using your new credit card and paying it off monthly in FULL. This way your creditors will trust you a lot more. Good luck!

there are two ways you could start credit one or them is taking out a small personal loan which you might need a parent or an adult to co-sign for you meaning if you do not pay the loan they will. Or you could apply for a credit card for bad or no credit which most likely will get you approved no matter what, but if you are a student you could get a student credit card which will offer you lower rates and no annual fees, check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com and go under bad or no credit or student cards. good luck
