1. Goto myfico.com, and download the free pdf. It will explain alot of information regarding your fico scores and the credit reporting system.
2. Goto annualcreditreport.com, and obtain a free credit report from each of the three bureaus. Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. You'll need these to review to make sure items are reporting correctly on your report.
3. Goto http://homebycountrywide.com/files/docs/DisputeLetter1.pdf and read the dispute letters. If anything was reported to your credit in error read below:
To dispute an item on your credit report you must submit to the credit bureau in question the following:
1. A dispute letter detailing why you believe the item in question is reporting in error. You will need to list the tradeline, the account number the company and any appropriate dates that this tradeline was reporting.
2. A copy of your credit report from the bureau, with the tradeline, and other information highlighted.
3. Cross your fingers and wait. The credit bureaus will send to you via snail mail or email a follow up to your dispute.
The credit bureaus contact the creditors to obtain information. In most cases, depending on how old the tradeline is, the company in question:
a) will not have the information on file, and therefore the credit bureau will need to remove it from your credit report.
b) will not respond within 90 days, so it is automatically removed.
c) will have the information and will contest your dispute.
Then if you get all of those things settled, refer back to myfico.com pdf and start to read again.
Good luck |

Open an RRSP! It shows some form of financial stability! Keep paying bills regularly.
Depending on how bad your credit is, it can take anywhere from 6mths to a few years in order to rebuild your credit! |

Simple. Get some sort of credit and pay it back on time. |

Unfortunately, it takes a couple years or even more depending exactly how bad your credit is.
To rebuild it, start with little things. Pay all bills on time. Put all your daily purchases on a credit card rather than debit or cash. Then pay off the credit card every month so there's no interest.
If you are going to buy a car or something big, find a cosigner if you can, then bust your butt to pay it off. Paying off a car I bought was probably the biggest increase to my credit score yet.
Just be patient and diligent. It is not going to happen over night. |

Today i spoke to a loan specialist, because i did the same. She told me to do debt consolidation to clear the record of debts & then start "semi-fresh".
I recommend debt consolidation, i've seen a lot of people do it.
Bankruptcy is another possibility..but it's so much harder these days.
I hit done by accident, and then get a secured credit card, you put the $ as security & then for a year you pay it every month & once you show them you're in good standings, they give you the $ back.
Good luck! |

After you have started paying bills on time it takes 7 years for negative stuff to fall off your credit report. Get your report from all 3 major credit burrows. If 7 years has passed request it to be removed by contacting the credit burrow that you received the report from.
Always pay your bills on time. Even if it is just the minimum payment! If you ever can not pay a bill contact the company or business you owe and explain the situation. Many times something can be worked out before they hit your credit with collection agencies! |

repay debts.
time (the longer time passes, the better your score gets)
don't open new accounts
don't charge things on the cards
don't close accounts
Those are all things that will help your score. Time helps because in 5 to 7 years, things you do today to hurt your score (like slow pay) will go off your credit history. opening and closing accounts affect your score. The ratio of debt to credit limit hurts your score if you are half or more full on cards.
stay away from debt consolidation companies, they are dangerous sometimes and don't really speed things up. Don't believe people that say that they can clear it up quick. It sounds nice, but doesn't work.
Time... just give it time...
Don't open up new accounts. |
