First, pay off or catch up all past due collection accounts and any revolving accounts you do still have out, make sure you make your payments on time.
Second, if you have no credit cards that you are paying on, get one. This will help you offset any older accounts that were paid late and help you rebuild your credit. I have found a site for you below that has a list of both secured and unsecured credit cards for people with bad credit. This should help you out. |

My FICO score last June was 500 I went to www.fixmyuglycredit.com and followed the technique they offered my score today with Transunion is 711 it takes time you did not ruin your credit overnight and you can not repair it overnight.Never go to a site that offers to good to be true offers to clean your credit.I have paid NOTHING except for getting my credit reports every 3 months.The site is free and very helpful Good luck |

First - Check all three credit reports to determine where and how you need to start. Then you want to get all old addresses, All employer & phone numbers removed! This is a must. Also go to optoutprescreen.com sign up for the 5 year plan. Then gather all the derog and look over each individ. item to make sure its reported accurately
Second - Send DV letters to all collection agencies, goodwill letters to open accts w/ late pays, pre-hippa letters for medical and general dispute to cred bureaus...just to name a few. Send all this certified mail return receipt! you need the date
Third - Sit back and see how they respond and who drops off. When you get your reports back check every little detail...i bet you'll find a mistake. Make sure the collections aren't validating while ignoring your DV letters...VIOLATION!!
Continue this for a while...it will work.
Fourth - Start negotiations on accounts that are yours and reported accurately. try to get a PFD or a positive status for payment.
Fifth - Add accounts that will help your utilization
this should give you a GOOD start..........

You can try doing it yourself by paying off bills, writing to companies if you dispute items on your report, etc. Or, you can pay a company to do it for you.
