I keep getting calls and letters from creditors for my daughter. She has not stayed at home for over ten years now and never had any credit here. I have returned the letters unopened and when they call I say " I don't know where she has gone" as I don't . Her old landlord is being pestered to now she would like to know to. I think they are for store and credit cards but thats all I know

If your daughters last address was your house then i don't think you can stop them.You could make sure she still isn't on the electorial roll for your address. I would change my number and ignore the letters. Then when they send someone to the house prove who you are and they will leave you alone after that. What you have to understand is yours is the last address they have for her and they won't take your word that she isn't there. So ignore them . |

You could try your local Citizens Advise Bureaux, however the fact is they want their money and because you are her mother they are hoping that eventually you will get so fed up that you will pay them just to get rid of them...
You could just put every letter not addressed to you through the shredder & recycle the confetti, but that won't stop them ..
Personally I would get a nice big bold stamp made up "Not at this Address. Return to Sender" & drop them in any handy post box each time you go out shopping , say once a month ...
To stop the nuisance calls, I suggest signing up to your phone providers 'call blocking service' - this allows you to block all calls from 'number withheld' sources (as well as blocking calls from specific numbers that you choose) ... this used to be free (at least from BT) |

In America...in most States you can send a Registered Letter to the Collection Agency and saying that your Daughter No longer Lives at this address and you don't wish to be-Contacted by Them anymore ...they have to abide by it or Faces Fines.... |

Even though I dont live in UK, the way creditors operate is --they start for the person by looking at all the prev. addresses & telephone numbers they have on their files.
Just change ur Voice message in ur answering machine -- to say that "If you are calling for "Daughters name", please stop calling. She has moved out 10 yrs ago and pls. stop calling this number"
that'll cut down calls and write "return to sender" on all her letters and put it back in postal mail. |

They are annoying you hoping that you will press her to pay the bills. Just throw the letters away. If they want to waste postage, so be it. As to the phone calls, in the US you have to put in writing that they are to cease calling you but most of the collection agencies ignore that law and continue to harass even when contacted by the attorney general and FTC. You can just hang up everytime they call or sit the phone down and walk away or even blow a loud horn or whistle in the phone. Call blocker is the only guarantee that you will stop this but you have to pay extra for it. |
