Husband hurt on job, but died before payoff. Job offered six thousand to settle. Should I accept, I have 2 boy

You don't say whether your husband's death was caused by his work-related injury, or was unrelated. If it was caused by the injury, then $6,000 seems woefully inadequate. But if it was unrelated, then the $6K may or may not be too little. That would depend on the nature of his injuries and your state law. For example, if his injury was minor, then the fact that he died from unrelated causes wouldn't make his minor injury worth more (even though your need for the money might have increased). Also, work-related injuries are governed by the workers' compensation system, where liability need not be proven, but in return, damages are fairly skimpy.

Get thee to a lawyer

smprfidlis
Six thousand? Hell no you should be getting ALOT more then that.

Classy Granny
Six thousand isn't going to get you through the first year. You need a lawyer. Don't let the employers insurance company tell you you don't. You can file a wrongful death suit and win way more than 6000.

NO!! Do not accept. You can get lots more, esp if your husband's death was a result of getting hurt on the job. I am sorry for your loss and God Bless you.

Ugh, Insurance companies make me sick. Get a lawyer, even though you will just be lining his pockets, Insurance companies are awful entities who employ heartless individuals they should have to pay out even if the money doesn't all make it to you.

God bless your family.

First of all, I am sorry for your loss. ... I can only imagine the grief has taken its toll on your emotions and rational thinking.

Unless your husband was the family car who can be replaced, you should be consulting with an attorney that is experienced in wrongful death suits. Hopefully they are offering you six thousand thousand dollar bills.
