Sure, I could pay this crap, but I didn't do it, it's on my credit, I'm a minor, and... WTF? How do I fix this?

For the special people:

I did not do it. Why would I have a credit card? I think its fraud.

Write to each utility company and explain that they have incorrect information. Tell them a bit about yourself--date of birth, where you've lived, never opened any credit at all since you're a minor, etc. Ask that they correct their records and also correct the credit info they sent to Equifax or whoever. Send the letter certified. You may have to be persistent about this, but since you're a minor they should be willing to make more of an effort. Be sure to keep good records of what efforts you have made and keep copies of all your letters.

You should NOT pay these--you should get them removed from your credit. Paying it says "I admit that this is right", and it isn't, and that will impact your credit.

You ALSO need to write to each credit reporting company and tell them the same info, send them a copy of your letter to the utility companies, and demand that they remove the incorrect information. You need to work on this problem from each end.

Something like this happened to my husband--he lived in Oregon when he was in grade school and the EPA wrote him and demanded hundreds of thousands of dollars for an EPA clean-up. He had to explain that to them. They were actually pretty nice about it, especially if you're nice (and funny) about it so the person helping you knows that you don't blame them personally. We have an uncommon name, too, so it was hard for them to believe initially.

Often it's a relative who uses your ID when their own credit is sh!t, so if you recognize an address where they say you "lived", then you will know which relative to look out for, and to check your credit regularly.

I'm sorry this is so long but we've been there--hope it helps, hon!

go to www.creditboards.com you can learn how to dispute the items if you really didn't take out the lines of credit then it shouldn't be a problem getting them off your CR Each of the 3 Credit reporting agencies has an online disputeing process I do not recommend this normally but if the debt really isn't yours then you shouldn't have a problem disputing the items.hope this helps

It probably is fraud. I would get you credit report and that should point you in the right direction. This should be easy to remove from your credit report. Write to these companies who say that you 'owe' them money. Tell them that you are a minor and that since you were a minor at the time, you are not responsible for the debt. I could be a simple error, or identity theft.

I saw news articles on parents getting cards in their kid's names cause all you really need is a social security number and ruining their credit cause they're in debt...you should ask them, or it might be fraud.

If I remember correctly you have to bring fraud charges against your parents if it was them to get your credit fixed which is a tough thing to do.

If the debt is yours, pay it off.

If you didn't do it, It's pretty obvious that your identity had been compromised. You need to contact credit bureaus and police immediately.

You may be able to simply write the three credit bureaus, experian, equifax and transunion, and ask them to request that it be removed. Tell them it wasn't you. They will verify the info...and it should come off.

I do credit repair with an attorney and sometimes it's that simple and sometimes its not. Don't do the challenge via email or online...that processed is very lax and they may disregard your request.

did you call the credit bureau. Usually they can fix stuff like that for you

Sounds as if your parents used your SSN# to get utilities in their name after they mucked up their own credit. Pretty shameful if this is the case. The way to fix it is to either dispute it; or pay it.

It's $106 dollars, pay it.

Trust me it's worth it

you just suck!
you better pay all your stuff off good. start to gain good credit back. credit is so important. if you start out with bad credit now you might be stuck with it for a while

You are worried about $106 dollars in debt?
I am happy that I finally have my credit cards down to under $5000, that doesn't even count my college student loans.

If those charges were for something you purchased, pay them, or have your parents pay them. Your credit will be fine.
If those charges were in error, call the people that claim you owe them money and get it figured out.

Also, once you hit college it won't really matter. Most credit card companies do their best to get college kids roaped into their card. You can apply for one, never use it (or pay things off right away) and build your credit easily.

$106 is not a big deal!

Figure out what that money was spent on, what companies are claiming you owe them, and call them. Some times (rarely) there are businesses that allow people to start a tab, with just a name, and when the tab isn't paid all they have to report it with is a name. Some one else could have your same name, or made a name up on the spot that happened to be yours. You can probably prove it wasn't you who made those charges, and get your credit cleared, if it was a case of mistaken identity (or identity theft).

And, as I said before, $106 is not a big deal! It may seem like it now, but in a couple years you will realize that it isn't worth loosing sleep over.

edit:
One thing I hear that happens is people forget to return rented movies, or librairy books, or some other type of rentals, or even when they return them they aren't marked in the vendor's records as being returned, and the charges are made to an account and forgoten until some one runs a credit check. This can be figured out by seeing where you owe the money.

edit: For utility bills, you can prove you live with your parents/guardians (or did at the time of the bills) and prove that it wasn't you. There should be not issues. Call the company directly, tell them what is going on, see what they recomend.

why did you even have a credit card in like middle school hahah . you NEED to pay it theres no other option, especially cause it wouldnt BE THERE enless you spent the $$$ . if you dont fix it now youre gonna have a bad credit history as an adult
