I've had good luck with the citi card for students. Every so often they will send you an email where if you get a friend to sign up they will take a small amount off your balance. They also offer rewards and frequent credit reporting so you can receive credit increases over time.
With that said, PLEASE be careful with a credit card. Only buy what you already have money for. You can pay most balances two days after you purchase something. Always pay the entire thing off. If an emergency happens, ALWAYS pay more than the minimum payment. It is very easy to get in over your head. |

I'm begging you, they are dangerous, I got one at 18 and i have been paying it back ever since. I'm now 22 and in debt and its not very nice.

Ask your selve why you want to go into debt? If you do not have the money to pay for it, save until you have the money.............
6 yrs ago I had $80k in credit card debt - ran me business off my credit cards. I was hell paying that off.
Now I keep on credit limits below 50% of my limit, resulting in my credit score 796.

Just remember. Unless you are a very responsible person, a credit card can start a lifetime of problems. |

Don't get one. Don't even get a loan. If you haven't got the money, don't buy it. If the worst comes to the worst and you need to borrow money, use a small, limited overdraft and don't go over it.
It will take you years to pay them off - I know from experience! Rates are generally very high with the financial crisis at the moment. |

I am 21 and in debt because i lost my job and couldn't afford to pay my credit card... DO NOT GET THEM!!! i have since then paid them all off and cut them up but it was horrible. it gives you the feeling that you have the money to spend then when your paycheck comes you have to use it to pay off what you just put on your credit card. DO NOT GET ONE!! pay with cash!
