Be careful with credit card offers. My suggestion is to get a card with a low credit limit (under $500) to start off. Shop around with all of the major banks (Chase, Wamu, Wells Fargo, Discover, American Express, etc) and see who gives you the lowest APR (Annual Percentage Rate). Also, stay away from annual fee cards. Lastly, look for cards that will offer you a no APR rate period.
However, Credit cards in college can be evil...I know! They are easy to use and build up a balance on. They also easy to just pay a minimum balance on, which is an easy way to build up credit card debt. If you seriously want to get a credit card, make sure you can pay off your debt in a timely manner and that you can actually afford one. It is very hard to build up good credit but you can kill your credit score in one simple mess up. So be careful, good luck and happy credit card hunting! |

If you want a credit card get one that has no annual fee, has a reasonable amount of time to pay the balance from the date of purchase without interest, either pays you cash back or offers reward points. Credit cards are fine but remember you must pay off the entire balance on time at the end of each month. If you cant do that, then you really should not use a credit card. One of the best ways to get credit is by purchasing a car on credit and paying it off on time or early. |

depends on what you are qualified to get. not everyone gets approved for credit cards, and if they do they have low limits on them especially if they have no credit history. watch out for those credit cards that add fees to the card once its activated. |

Im 20 and I wish I never got a credit card. But now I realize its important to have some in good standings for car loans and home loans. Capitol One is cool. Just DON'T EVER get one where you limit is like 250 and your first charge is a convenience fee of 240 bucks. And any offer you get in the mail thats over $500 credit limit offer is as good as toilet paper. |
