It depends on how much debt you have. 30% is usary. Try to negociate with them. If you cannot, and the debt is large enough, consult a bankrupcty attorney. Usually the initial consultation is free. |

Ask the government for help. There are all kinds of benefits for students, and not all of them are limited to expenditures directly related to school. You might not be able to find one that will help with credit card debt but I'm sure you can get help in other areas to help free up some money and start making payments. |

It would help to know how large the bill is. I will assume it is 5000 dollars. I would borrow about 3 grand from grandma and have a debt settlement company obtain a reduced rate payoff for me. |

Speak with your financial aid office. There may be avenues they can lead you to. You may be up against a wall. This may mean you cut back on semester hours for a semester or two and work your butt off. Or, keep your current hours and work your butt off. You didn't give details on how much you owe?? How much longer will you be in school? If you can work and make the minumum payments then do so. When summer break comes around work like a fiend. I see you working two jobs this summer.
If you can't pay anything at the moment remember the credit card company can't really do anything to you even if they take you to court and the get a judgement against you. You are a broke college student. They will call you night and day, but at the moment you are almost sue proof. You have no assets. Keep in touch with them but don't let them scare you into giving up your finiancial aid funds. |

Get a part time job if you don't have one.
Create a budget
Pay at least part of your balance, even if it is a small amount.
Call customer service and see what sort of options they have for you.
Check your credit score. If you credit score is in fairly good shape, consider transferring the balance to another card, hopefully one that has a low interest rate. |

If you can't pay your credit card bills, how would you pay the loan?
I would assume that your credit score is rather low. You can try to either get a debt consolidation loan or consolidate all your credit card debt onto a new card with lower interest, but I am afraid it might be too late to do that.
All you can do is try. American Express Blue Cash will allow a balance transfer and charge an 4.99% APR for the life of the loan. See if you qualify.
Otherwise try finance companies or other lenders who might give you a debt consolidation loan.
The problem you will face is if you don't cut up your credit cards and close the accounts, you will be even deeper in debt by this time next year.
I suggest you contact a good creditor counselor and see if he can reduce your interest rates and/or maybe your balances to something more manageable for you. Every major city has a Cosumer Credit Counseling Services office. Make an appointment and hope for the best. |

you need to get a job and work to pay off these debt. maybe take less crdedit at school. I work as a bill collector and hear these problems all the time. It is sad that are society has gotten this way with debt,. But start paying at least $20 over min and plan a budget foryourself. Contact all of your creditors and work out a settlement arrangments on them. (Paying 50-60%) on card and settle. Although it will show on your credit report as "settled for less than full balance" meaning you agreed to pay but not the full amount. The best news is - you can always reversed the sttlmnt arrnagmnt in 90 days and pay account.
Get you self a job and work to pay them off. Not a smart way to getyourself bad credit right after school. Good credit takes a lot of time to repair while credit can be destroyed fast.
good luck |

There are not to many banks that would be willing to lend u money if u are already deliquent on your current credit card debt.....and by not attempting to make payments that will force the creditor to put negative marks on your credit making it next to none to get a loan...also not to mention the accounts be reported as deliquent...and late....if u continue to be late on your payments and or not make payments by the time u get the money to pay the debts they will be transfered into collections and u will have to pay even more.....once that happens then the company will sue u for the debts and u will have a judgement put against u....if the debts are to much then your alternative my be to file bk 7....because if u are not current now on your account most lenders will think that u wouldn't make your payments on a new loan.... |

hi Denise you are not alone having the problem of having debt
now that you have realized the intensity of the problem, it is not very difficult to come out from the debt trap.. Be determined to cut short all the unnecessary expenditure. I'm sure the friends who have enjoyed your spending joyfully would have disappeared.Don't ever try to get them back anymore.
I am sure there are many people who are your welwishers having some savings kept at home or invested for a very meagre returns. you approach them, explain your position ask them for a loan offering a better return to them which will be definitely more than what they are getting presently. at the same time which will be many times lower than that is charged to you from your credit provider. Tell your friend how you plan to repay him and be sincere in your commitments. take this money and pay back your credit card dues.
There is one other secret . Are you sincere in giving what is due to the Lord from your income in case it should be lesser than onetenth, Also remember the poor for what you give to the poor is lent to the Lord and He will definitely retun what you have given manyfold.
Wishing you a debt free New Year 2007.
With regards,

At this moment, call up the creditors and let them know your situation. Most likely they will work with you on the payment and the rate as well. It's important to let creditors know you are intent to make a payment. As right now, cut all your credit cards, and spend CASH only. |

talk to your bank, most banks will let you do a debt consolidation loan.
If they do that, cut the credit card up.... |
