I'm in debt & DO NOT want a bank loan!!!?
I'm in debt with $6,500.00 and I recently received a court order that I need to present to court for a hearing on my account. The letter was sent from the lawyers that took the case from the company that I took out the credit card from. The letter states to pay that amount in full or go to court. I do not have that type of money to pay them back- even if I would want to. Is there something that I can do to pay it--- like a loan, but not from a bank? Any resource/information of help will be much appreciated. Any form of feedback, please, write back. Thank you so much!

Oh, and I only have about a month and a half before my hearing at court.

If they gave you a court date, then you either have to come up with the money (and from your question, I don't think that you think that's possible)

If you go to court and don't have the money, your check will be garnished.

Which simply means that the creditors get 1/5 off the top, before you get paid.

But, above all else, SHOW UP FOR COURT.
If they slip in $100,000,000 in attorney's fees, and you don't show up for court, the judge will have no choice but to issue a "default judgement", which means they win the $100,000,000.
Think that's unreasonable? Simple solution: Show up and tell the judge, and he'll agree with you.

Are you sure you have a real court summons? You may want to check with your local court clerk. Sometimes collection agencies (including lawyers acting as collection agencies) will send you something to make you believe they have filed suit.

Be sure to insist all communication be via letter so you have a papertrail. Depending on how old this debt is, you may be able to settle for half or less. Lump sum does get the best deal. Any payment plan has to be short term.

Get any settlement or payment plan agreement in writing, and keep a copy, along with your payment proof, forever. Do not give the collector direct access to your bank account.

If you cannot work out a settlement and they do take you to court, be sure to show up. You may be able to get a court ordered payment plan. At the worse, the creditor will win a judgment and then garnish your paycheck. The max they can take is 25%.

You can make a minimum payment arrangement, what ever you can afford.--

You can't get out of debt by borrowing money - that's like trying to save yourself from drowning by drinking a glass of water. The collection agnecy will get a CCJ against you and then garnish your pay. Time to get a second job (if necessary) and start to pay what you owe.

well...there really is nothing in the way of a loan other than from a bank and if u have bad credit that is out. Ask family and if they can't help then u will just have to face the heat...That happend to me once but, it was from an insurance company and they garnished my wages.

i find the web site a bit messy but it has really good info for people in debt situations, so try posting your question on the forum.

my advice: don't borrow from anyone that will charge interest. be wary of banks and building societies. $6500 isn't actually that much. i think your best bet would be to get help from family or friends or some philanthropist. i'm sure if u look in ur community, u'll be able to get a loan from somebody.
