if i were you i will take that offer :-) its a good opportunity to build your credit history. 17.74% is not high, 20-24+% is high. Later on you can get an even better credit card. oh but make sure there is no annual fee. because that suks. lol

If you've never had a credit card, you are still high risk for prospective lenders because no credit is as bad as bad credit.

You need to be able to demonstrate your credit-worthiness by obtaining a small card (say Target or Walmart) and using it to buy about $50-100 a month and paying off the balance every month. This will help start to show you are being responsible with credit.

Pay that balance off every month. Make that your priority, because 1. It will show you are serious about paying your debt 2. You start a lifelong habit of paying your bills on time and making that your priority. Nowadays your good credit is essential for renting an apartment, getting a car loan or anything. Auto insurance companies base your premium in part on your credit, as well as your driving record. You even need a good credit report when applying for jobs nowadays!

Good luck.

1 or 2 credit card is necessary evil.
If you pay in full every month it does not matter what the APR is. I pay my credit card in full every months and have never incurred interest charges furthermore on my card there is loyalty program so every few months I can go shopping for free. There are credit cards that offer you cash back for every dollar purchased. Use this cards, pay back in full every month so you don't incur interest then you are ahead of the game.

credit cards are a good tool if...... if..... you never pay interest....( pay it off at the end of every month) .... and get one with no annual fee...
don't ever run up a bill you can't pay off at the end of the month... good luck with your delivery..... would chat more about money if you had posted your email..... criss

17.74% is rather high, but if you have never established credit before, then this is typical for a first time offer. You can open this account and used this card to help you establish credit and 1 or 2 more to add to your credit history in the next 6 to 12 months will help too

Just make sure your spending habits are good ones! The only people I've ever known who wish they never had a credit card are those who have no self control.

Only charge what you can afford to spend and you should be fine! Also, go to my website and read it all! I had my ID stolen and went into bankruptcy and I still got my credit score up from 486 to 730 in a little over a year!

After all this and then having to repair my credit, this is something I know about and I hope that once you learn what credit repair is and how credit and scoring works, you will know enough to never have to use it!

dont get a credit card. They are good for nothing but getting you into debt. They make all the rules and change the rules anytime they want. Just read the fine print.

People will tell you to use it and pay it off when the bill comes. Its a game. Its a game with your money. You put the money on your card and then an emergency comes up and you cant pay it off that month and you get charged the interest or you forget to make the payment or its late and now you have a 30 - 40 dollar late fee. then they raise you interest rate. then it gets harder and harder to pay it off.

To many people obsess with the I love debt score. They only thing its good for is borrowing money. Save and pay with cash.

a low I love debt score from not paying your bills ist trouble. If you have a 0 score from not borrowing money you can still get an apartment and job and home loan with the lowest interest rates.

Debt Free is the way to be!

It's a very high rate. Use credit with extreme caution. It is a trap.

You don't need a credit card. Even if you pay off the balance in full every month, you're still better off using cash and/or a debit card. You'll NEVER overspend or go over your personal budget if you ALWAYS use cash. If you really need plastic in your wallet, a debit card will do everything the credit card can; and it won't lead you to more debt.
Credit cards are not worth it. Don't believe me? If you read more of the questions in this YAHOO category, you'll find a lot of people who wish they never got a credit card.
