pandalucky08 | I Owe 5000 on a CC, with interest, Can I really Be Sued for 10,000? |
I've been avoiding this and it's my fault. I checked out my credit report and aparently now I owe them 10,000 after they've added on interest! What do I do? I have no job, I own nothing, I'm not on foodstamps, but I certainly have no money of my own. I dont want to be sued. I've "vanished" for a while now. The only contact they have is my parents who know of my debt and they just hang up on these guys because it's not their problem.
Also, I should be only a few months away from SOL. So my plan is to just continue avoiding them. Is it likely that they will sue me last minute before SOL expires? |

for $10,000 there is a slight chance 5% that you will be sued. Since you dont have the money anyways, it doesnt matter if you get sued or not. So my advice is try to ride it out and once SOL is over, then you can unvanish (if that is a word). Collections tend to sue early when they want the debt collected. $10,000 is big but in my opinion not big enough to go after all the court costs and all. But then there is always that chance.
Ronig is wrong. The SOL states you cant be sued after a certain time no matter what. Find out what your states SOL is. There are a few things which are SOL exempt. Student loans and child support. Unsecured debt like credit card has to follow your states' SOL. |

Contact credit card company and tell them your situation and most likely they will make a deal with you. Usually credit card companies will make arrangements and you will end up not having to pay the full balance owed. |

Yes you can sued any amount of debts. But that will depend upon the creditors. But it advisable to pay off your debts as it fill affect your credit.
You can go for a credit counseling company. They can guide you on managing your debts and provide you with a debt management plan. Thus you can pay off your debts.
Here is the source of a debt consolidation company named http://ezconsolidation.com for your reference, who offer credit counseling. You can go for it |

Late fee, attorneys fee, and interest can certainly double your principal amount. Exactly when do you THINK your SOL is? It's probably not when you think it is. Many companies will sell their account to collection agencies who will sue after the SOL, however, you will have to hire an attorney to fight it. |

Dang...you've gone 200% on interest...crazy.
Well uhmm it's your choice you can stick your head in the sand and hope they go away...truthfully it just might work.
The other thing is to call the company and make payment arrangements....but then again you haven't a job and in a bind with foodstamps and all.
You're gonna want to start thinking about filing chapter 7 |
