Hi, I will really recommend you to go to your nearby Bank, that will be your most secure way to avoid scams.
Now when dealing with credit cards, I suggest you to get a credit card that gives you the lowest APR, since you will be paying out interests like crazy with the wrong credit card.
If you will like to make good credit history, then when you finally get your credit card, do the following things.
1. Buy something that you know you can pay-off within 2 or 3 weeks.
2. Pay your credit card bill on time, and never, never, miss a payment.
3. Always pay more than the monthly payment stated on your bill.
Good luck! |

I'm 19 as well and got a Discover Student credit card 7 months ago to start establishing credit as well. I love it. I started with a low limit, only $500. My advice would be to not go above half your limit. The highest balance I've had is about $300. I put either $50 or $75 on it every month, and I have pretty good credit right now. Discover is real nice, e-mails you payment reminders. I haven't had any problems left. I recommend them. |

I say that you should go to your local bank because it is so much easier to make payments when you are close by. |

There are a lot of cards that would be good. If you only need it to get credit established, get a JC penny, or Sears, card. Charge on it, then pay monthly and never be late. If you don't want one of those, go to www.orchardbank.com. They specialize on giving credit cards to people trying to establish their credit. It may have an annual fee, but it is not much considering why you are getting it |

There are literally hunderds of different cards out there and between those cards, hundreds of different plans. You might want to try this website that has some pretty good tools for doing some side by side comparisons.

Be cautious in your selection. The danger for college student is that the credit card companies don't care if you can afford a card just that you get one. Try and get a limited money credit card until you can establish your credit line FOR EMERGENCY uses. One that has a double daily review and allows a reasonable time to pay. Try and always pay off the monthly amount otherwise you will not be able to ever catch up.

Get a Capital one or a local clothing store credit card. i started off buy getting 5 and i havent really had a hard time. those who say that credit and credit cards are'nt neccessary are wrong. people need credit for future purposes like when you want to get a loan for a home or a car. with out a credit score, no one will lend to you. plus credit cards are there for you when you dont have the funds to purchase or pay for something at the moment. on the other if you are rich out your *** and can afford everything in cash then by all means dont get one. |

American Blue Express Credit Card: Apart from no annual fee feature of the American Blue Express it also gives cash returns on specific purchases. Users of the American Blue Express also enjoy protection against fraud for online credit card transactions. This card tries to right the various wrong notions about the American Express credit cards, one of which is that it is a credit card only for rich or those who have money to keep a credit card.
Getting this card will also give you access to various other cards from American Express. American Express targets people of different styles and tastes. There is an appropriate American Express card for everybody in the family. The company also wants to target a niche market for credit cards, especially women and the youth. With this aim in mind, the American Blue Express was created. |

Start off with a bank card: it's a credit card issued by your bank that is more of a debit card but you can use it as either debit or credit.
It'll take money out of your bank account without a credit fee, and when you get used to using that and are faithful to checking your balance and managing it, then you can get a true credit card. |

Getting a credit card at any age is dumb, ignorant and stupid. Why do you need a good credit rating? So you can get car payments? Have you ever heard of a thing called interest?
Pay cash.
You don't need a credit card for emergencies. Money works just as well and a whole lot cheaper. |
