if you have a bank account, you can get a check card with a visa/mastercard logo, and you'll withdraw only money that you have in the account. that'll establish credit history.
also, if you are a student, you can apply for credit from big banks (citibank, bank of america) that have special cards for people (students) with no credit. or, go to your bank and ask if they can issue one.
having good credit history is important so get going. |

Get a small credit card.. one from a department store is good. Use it for small items that you can pretty much pay off each month.
I'm using the same method to rebuild my credit after a messy divorce. |

Stay employeed and make your rent payments on time.
I would also suggest that you avoid borrowing money. It only gets people in trouble.
If you ever want to buy a house and need to borrow money, you can go through what is called 'manual underwriting'. This is where an individual (and not a computer) will evaluate whether you are a credit risk or not.
If you had a steady job for 2+ years, paid your rent on time and had some money in the bank, you'll be able to get a loan to purchase a house.
Otherwise, use cash to buy everything.

Avoid credit cards like you'd avoid a whore with AIDS & VD......... trust me, after reading this website you'll thank me for it later:

Instead get a bank account that provides a VISA Debit card + an overdraft facility to minimise any damage from going overdrawn.
Remember, it's an overdraft LIMIT, not a TARGET. |

Are you working? Having no credit is not the same as having bad credit. Get a charge card at a Department store. Buy something on credit. MAKE SURE you have no MISSED payments. Good luck. |
