Every-time you apply you lower your credit score. There is a true free website to check your own credit (which won't lower your score if you initiate it) and see if there is derogatory things on your credit. My sister is a Loan Officer and she says kids come in with pre-trashed credit courtesy of their parents and relatives.

Check your credit and apply for one credit card from like a department store or gas station and then charge things and pay them off slowly over time this will build your credit.

Here is the web site: www. annualcreditreport.com

The rejection is non existent in case of prepaid credit cards, there are no credit checks, no employment verification, and approval is guaranteed.

With a bit of dilligent shopping and comparision of various prepaid credit card offers, it is not difficult to find a prepaid card with no annual fees, no late payment fees, no repayments, and no penalties whatsoever. So, the ownership costs of a prepaid card can be negligible.

With prepaid cards it is very easy to promote financial discipline. Since you can only spend what you have, there is no overspending, and hence no debts.

Some prepaid cards do report their use to major credit bureaus and hence are a good instrument to rebuild credit history.

Prepaid cards have wide acceptablility, and in some cases they are even more readily accepted than credit cards. Apply online at: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/PrePaid_Card.html

Missy G is right on. Listen to her. Let me tell you, once you start having credit problems it is a nightmare to get yourself back up to par. By the time you hit your mid-thirties you will have figured the whole thing out. To be honest they need to go over this stuff in 12th grade just before graduation because it has become a huge national concern. The credit world is a big big complicated nightmare.... Missy G has your answer.

This is awkward, 'they' do not have to give a reason for refusing, have a word with a bank official.

try smaller banks. there are also credit cards that automatically deduct payments from your bank account. this way you are able to establish a credit history so that you can later upgrade to the regular credit card that is not tied up to your bank account.

though you have a bank account and debit card, these are not considered in your application.
there are some questions that you have to answer before you could apply for a credit card (which you were not able to mention here):
1. is your job stable or is not based on commissions?
2. are you earning at least the minimum annual amount required by the credit card company?
3. do you have a credit card from another card company?
4. do you have any friends who can refer you to a card company?
5. do you have bad debts from the past?

if your job is in sales, most credit card companies would reject your application. they have this notion that sales people only get their salaries from commissions.
if you have family members/friends who already have credit cards, you can ask them if they could get you a supplementary card. In the meantime you can use this as a "referral card" in your application.

hope i was able to help. Good luck!
