The best thing to do right now would be to talk to a financial advisor. They can tell you the best way to get out of debt or even re-finance to help pay back at a lower cost. Good Luck and stay in school. |

Go to http://www.daveramsey.com and listen to his radio show. He has lots of great advice on money and debt. It doesn't cost a dime to listen. |

Try looking in your phone book for credit councelling in your area? There's probably tons of places. Your school's guidance councellor could probably help you out too. |

Be careful about companies that promise to fix your credit. Most are scams that will just take your money.
If you need credit counseling, go to this site and find an NFCC approved company in your area: http://www.nfcc.org/
The best way to attach debt is one at a time. Squeeze your budget and throw everything at the highest interest rate debt, while paying minimums on the rest. When the highest is paid off, move to the next till they are all paid in full.
You may be close to graduation but you can't afford school. So get a job -- get a couple jobs. Put extra effort into paying off the debt.
If a family member screwed up your credit, you should have filed charges against that person for ID theft. They didn't care what they did to your credit, why should you pay their debts to keep them out of jail. I would lean on that sorry family member very hard to get them to fork over $$ to clear up their mess. You can sue them you know. |

Your family member messing up your credit score jumped out at me. If you didn't make this debt DON"T take responsibility for it to protect someone else. I'd report the accounts that aren't yours to the credit bureaus as NOT MINE and ask them to investigate and remove them. You should also write directly to the creditors and tell them you do not recall having accounts with them and you will need to see proof of that. If they send you a signed contract as proof and its not you please go to the police and report it as theft. Typically the bureaus want a police report to do this.
I hate to see when family members use someone's identity for their own purpose and screw them. Even if it's your parents do what is right for you. Read the msn article listed below - if it happened to you, you certainly are not alone. There's also a link to the Federal Trade Commission website giving instructions on what to do.
Good luck, if I misinterpreted this call your creditors and they will work with you in most cases. Tell them your story. |

Try joining a credit union. They can usually negotiate with your creditors and work out a payment plan that fits your budget. |
