I am just trying to figure out credit?
I just don't get it, I spent 15,000 to pay off everything on my credit. My score has rebounded some to about a 647 except for my trans union which went from a 630 to 599. I opened a credit card which I have pd on time for 15 months. I finally got a JCP card, and about 4 months ago I opened up a car loan which I have paid all these on time, but my score isn't going anywhere, and I can not recieve any more credit, I get turned down. what sucks is I would've never had these problems if I never got hurt on the job. I am very upset at the fact that I am getting no wheres in a 12 month period. they take a great deal off for negative stuff, but when you pay it they give you like 4 points. I should've saved my money instead of paying everything off. I just don't understand it.
Additional Details
I just wanted to reiterate that I didn't have a problrm paying my bilss until I got hurt and checks went from 1500 a week to 400 due to workers comp rates.

Worshipping at the alter of the almighty fico score.

You have to borrow money and go into debt and keep borrowing money and stay in debt to get a good fico score and keep it. Its stupid. Its a game the banks play to get rich. stay away from it.

No offense, but Credit Cards are a bunch of crap. After my $10,000 debt is paid off, I will never put something on a Credit Card again. If you don't have the money then just don't buy it. I made the exception on an engagement ring, and some few things when I was a teenager.

Just ditch the cards after there paid off. I don't know what kind of interest rate you were gettin, but I can bet saving your money instead of paying it off would of not saved you money in the long run, even if you invested that money wisely, which I am assuming you wouldn't have. I know it's tough, but suck it up, pay them totally off, and never use them again.

Next time you start working, save as much of your paycheck as you can every week. By the time comes that you get hurt at work again or some other stupid thing in life happens, you'll be ready.Good luck!

First of all, if you are doing credit monitoring through any of the credit bureaus, the inquiry is a "soft inquiry" and you do NOT get penalized in decreased points on your credit score.

Second, you need to wait a while for your newly established credit to season. Just make your payments on time every time and keep your running balance to a minimum (not over 30 percent of your line established). This may take a couple of years, plus any derogatories showing that are paid will not drop out until 7 years from the date of the first deliquency (10 years on bankruptcy, repos, and foreclosure. 15 years for tax liens).

A "good credit score" is not of any use to you unless you want to borrow more money. If it just took you $15,000 to "pay off everything" you might take that as a sign that you don't handle credit well, perhaps you shouldn't use it!

If you only buy things you have the money for, you'll sleep better, trust me!

It's just the way it is my friend. I know it sucks but the reality is that it takes years to establish great credit and only a couple of months to trash it.

You sound like you are going in the right direction. Just keep it up and things will turn around.

After you have about 12-15 payments on your car loan your credit score will really start to turn around.

No paying off the accounts was the right step. But you have to rememeber that your credit is a display of your history good or bad. So because of this the accounts may be paid off and that is why your score went up a little but they are still on your report with the payment history, just now they show as being paid off. If you would like some help I had done some credit repair with a company that helped me clean stuff like that off my report and it worked very well. You can see their website at www.platinumscores.com

Did you check all three bureaus to make sure that they really up-to-date?

It does take time to establish good credit, and you need to look like you're using it at the same time, without running it up. Your score doesn't magically change, but it will with time. I saw mine move up a couple of points a month.

New inquiries and accounts may lower your score. What about balances currently. Should only use about 30% of credit limit. Sorry to hear your frustrations the scoring system is often confusing. Too further discuss email me tmrst3@yahoo.com

Sounds like you are checking your credit to often, every time your credit gets checked (furniture store, car dealership, self-checking, applying for credit cards) you score goes down.
