I applied for a credit card, got accepted but then changed my mind...?
But when I checked my bank account there is now a credit card account as well with 2 months of late payments and the annual fee tacked on to it. I don't want this credit card at all, but now I'm afraid if I call Visa, they will close the account, which I believe goes against your credit score. I never activated this card, in fact, I never even received the card. Is this fraud? If it's not, whats the best way to deal with this? Thanks!!!

Were there any charges made? A closed account will look negatively on your credit but so will the late payments. Since you never activated or received the card I would call them up explain to them the issue and have them send the problem to their fraud division. You should recieve a letter from them or a call. This happened to me and they closed the account and also cleared my status. I used the letter and sent it to the credit bureaus and they cleared it off my record as well. Goodluck.

First, never apply for a credit card with an annual fee. There are too many credit cards out there to do this. However, since you applied for this credit card and were approved you are now responsible for the debt (including the annual fee). You can call them and say you never wanted the card, and they might waive the fee, but that is up to them. Regardless, you need to close the card. While the exact process is somewhat dependent on the creditor it generally involves you contacting them by phone and/or sending a letter to this effect. It does not hurt your credit to close an account. That's a common myth. The only connection this would have to your credit score is that it could lower the average amount of time you've had credit or lower your available credit in contrast to what you owe. This would negatively effect your score. What is definitely effecting your score is being passed due on the card. Either get them to remove it or pay it immediately. Either way, don't allow the delinquency to continue.

Your credit score will be reduced, but only to where it was before you got the card in the first place.

If you had an annual fee and two late payments, then you're the victim of a shark attack.

The only thing I would add, after you've contacted the credit card company, is if they don't resolve the issue, make sure to dispute it with the credit reporting agencies. You can do this online.

Whatever you do, please put it in writing. Contact the Visa company, they won't close your account. Maybe you are paying an annual fee? If so, you must pay it to maintain the card and keep your credit ok. If not, dispute the charge.

Actually this "jersey boy" character is wrong. It can be considered fraud. I used to work for a credit card company. Approval is not an automatic agreement. Not by any means. You need to call Visa immediately and explain your situation. You need to demand they close the account and clear those charges and if you still do not want the card, you need to insist they take this completely off your record. They have the power to do so, it just might take some fighting.

Notify your bank and call Visa. If you don't you will be responsible for previous charges.

Fraud? You're the one who changed your mind and then did nothing about it.
