The reason why you were denied was because you have a lack of credit meaning as you said no credit. Most department stores want so credit to see how good it is. Since your in college, why don't you try applying for college credit cards. They work just like credit cards but you have a way better chance of being approved. That is how I got my first credit card. They want like the classes you are taking for that quarter and like an ID I think so they know that you are for sure in college. Your credit limit will start out low as mine did ($800), but if you pay the bills on time it will be raised in no time. I have had mine for two years and my credit limit now is $2600. Hope I helped!

That may be the problem, no credit record. Try and see if you can get a debit card from your bank. They usually have better rates. Mine has no interest and a hi limit

U have what they call ghost credit. I too am a Sophomore in college and I just got my credit up and running. I started at Capital ONe with a platinum card low intrest and $200 limit(no sweat, can pay it off if I charge it up TRUST ME U DON'T WANT A HIGH LIMIT)

Becuase you don't have any credit to go on and they aren't gonna let you try out your "paying habits" on them. I would try getting a credit card that you actually have to put money into to spend, that is a great way to build credit!

It does suck, but at least you know the credit you have will be good!

Sometimes no credit is as just like having bad credit, alot of stores are not willing to take chances on a person that has no credit history at all. I had to struggle for a while, then got lucky and got my first loan, at a bank, paid it back and my credit score went up. Unfortunately I fell on really hard times and screwed my credit up and am working to make it right again, am almost there. You just have to be careful. Best of luck.

many credit companies wont give credit to those who are just starting out.

You can look for companies that actually open up your credit.

Try Capital One, they offer those type of services.

There are many reasons why credit company's do not give credit to young people for one do you have a job, or what they call unestablished credit history.

No credit is worse than bad credit in our "modern" world.
