Before apply for a credit card, you need to do some research. There are alot of scams in the bad credit credit card arena.
Avoid First Premier, Image, Tribute, Rewards 660, Total, and Continenntal Finance. These cards are scams. Some will charge you upwards of $175 to get a $250 credit limit.
Avoid catalog and prepaid cards. They rip you off with fees and do nothing to help build your credit.
Avoid Capital One, they do not report your limit to the credit bureaus. If you get a $500 limit from them and charge $200, you credit limit will be reported as $200. This will kill your credit score.
Check out the sites below for the low down on bad credit credit cards. They will help you make a smarter decision. |

Many stores now carry prepaid credit cards. If you want one for say $100.00 you give them the money and they give you a credit card that works the same as any other credit card but has a limit of $100.00. |

Try Capital one or vanquis, they are aiming to give credit to those like yourself and help built up good credit to out do the bad credit past you have! |

You can also get a prepaid credit card from most pharacies like Walgreens or Rite-Aid. You get the same options, like cash advance and all that, you can reload it whenever you want. It's the best way to make sure you never go over your limit. Plus they keep track of it and it goes towards your credit. |

Try the tribute mastercard...I have bad credit they gave me one and it started out as a 300 dollars limt...I had to pay like a 100 dollar fee...After 6 months of good payment history they put it up to 350 and then a couple of monthes later it went up to 450....I pay it off once I max it out I love the card though!!

In the US both Master Card and Visa offer rechargable cards. It may be that there is something similar in UK. You buy a card and put money on it. You then use it like a debit or credit card. It is handy for use on the internet. You cannot overspend and it cost little to recharge. There are no bills and no interest. Here they are sold mainly by drugstores, pharmacies and small convenience stores. |

What you need to do is find a Visa debt card, very similar to Switch.
It's a saving account that is linked in with visa, where only you can spend the money you have in the bank.
Unless you don't have any money to spend then it will be very hard finding a financial institution to help you without massive interest.
I have friends who have these types of cards available if you wanted more information.

Firstly, it's important to find out whether you have faced up to your bad credit by ordering you credit report (if in UK - Experian or Equifax).
Any CCJ's, payments not settles...etc will not win you any favours with anyone. This needs to be addressed first.
If you are saying that any CCJ's have been settled and 'Satisfied', any poor repayments have been settled up-to-date and possibly 'Satisfied' too, and these show on your credit report, there is Capital One.
The reason I mention Capital One is because they can provide a credit card with an initial maximum of £400 limit. This may not seem alot of money, but it will enable you to get your credit worthiness back to basics and also order by phone...etc. Also, there credit checking for such a limit is not as harsh as with other Firms. "A good place to start!" |
