Report the car stolen,
and don't spend any money in your account until the bank says it's been cleared.
You won't get in any trouble, but if the check isn't real then they bank just yanks the money back. |

It may take longer than 3 weeks for the check to bounce. Typically these bogus checks are on real accounts and they may actually clear ... until the real account holder sees the bogus check. It could be 2 months before the counterfeit check bounces back to your account. |

You should make sure that the funds are in the account before writing checks against the funds.
If the check bounces you can legally go after the person that wrote the check. If you can't contact them to make it right then I'd call the police. |

You should have had your bank verify that the check was good before you deposited that! You will have those funds deducted out of your account and charged a bounce check fee! |

You wait 3 weeks and see if the check bounces. The courtesy credit that you get in 3 days is meaningless.
If you sold your car for $4000 and your buyer sent you a check for $5000 and said that you needed to cash the check and immediately wire the extra money to his shipper, it's a common Nigerian scam.
Of course having now read your other posts, I have very little sympathy for you. You knew it was a fraud when you deposited it and you wanted to know if you could get in trouble if you spent the money when it wasn't yours. *sheesh* |

If it's no good, the bank will remove the credit from your account, and probably charge you a bounced-check fee.
I hope you haven't handed over the car yet. Often it can take 3 weeks for a fraudulent check to process and be returned. |

ummm if the check bounces you are out a car...but you don't get in trouble for that...you might feel dumb but nothing else. you wont get the money either btw. |

call your bank. if its real they will tell you do not spend it until you are sure if its bad they will tell you when you call them. |
