Heather | I don't know what to do about my credit card... pls help..? |
I have one credit card and no other "bad" debt. I have a mortgage, 2 paid off cars and such... my credit has been great.
Last yr my 2 children had a combined 7 surgeries and with co-insurance and deductables I have had to let my credit card payment slip.
So, I started with a balance of $4400 and after not paying the full amout late it is now up to $5100
I have made payments butnot enough to cover the whole past due amount.
I spoke to someone last night and they dropped the interets from a whopping 30% to 5.3%.. however, I only got $78 of the finance and late fees taken off. I am also on a payment plan..
I am wondering if their is any other avenue I can take to be able to pay this off but get some of the fees off?
I am well aware that I need to pay it, it is my debt but I am just hoping for some help. It is not as if I just decided not to pay.
Blessings... |

You said it what you need is Blessings and Prayers. Ipersonally don't believe in credit cards I think theyare a trap to feed of need and desires of others. Do'nt stress out You have enough on your plate. I said this to you twice or more, the devil is trying to destroy your goals don't let him..........Psalms 23and Psalms 12I can't say exactly where but read we must wear the Full Armor of God. Wear it Daily. Let NO Weapon form against the will of God in your household. In Jesus I Pray A-MEN |

You have alot on your plate. I can tell you are a decent person because with all that going on, you still managed to think about this bill. I can't say that I would have even remembered.
I hope that your children are feeling better.
KUDOS TO YOU for getting your interest rate dropped that much....you might want to start a small business helping others negotiate stuff like that (me included)
Not really sure what can be done about getting the money....I certainly understand how hard it must be.
Have you ever thought having a garage sale
sure you wont make 5k but every bit will help and can go directly towards your debt
I would also contact one of the credit agencies and write a personal statement.
This will give any creditor an understanding of what is going on in your life that made yoru credit take the temporary nose dive that it has
hang in there
and keep up the great work...the good news is that since you have what most people need credit for, you dont have to tear your hair out trying to repair your credit.
Do what you can when you can. Your kids need you now since you already have a house and a few cars you have a few years before your decline in credit will be a major issue
Sure we all want great credit but as you have eloquently pointed out, this is not always possible |

Have you spoken to someone at the hospitals? There is usually a department where they can help you deal with the medical bills. There are also charities that do this also. Also, did you know that you can deduct medical expenses from your taxes (you need to have bills in excess of a certain percentage of your total income - ask your accountant/tax preparer).
As far as your credit card bill you might try to get a consolidation loan, but with the interest rate at 5.3% that is already pretty low. You might also look into getting a second mortgage, but for only $5100 I would not suggest it.
Good luck to you. |

Maybe the best thing that you can do for the short term is switch credit card companies. You are probably getting CC offers in the mail every day. Look for one that will allow you to have a low or no interest for the first year. You will have to pay a small fee (usually $75.00) to transfer a credit debt to the new card but you will be way ahead. You will have to make a minimum payment every month but with little or no interest. Don't miss the payments or your rate will go sky high again.
Next year about the same time you can jump to another card with the low introductary rate and keep doing this until you get caught up.pp |

Getting your interest down to 5.3 percent will help a great deal! Are you still paying medical bills from your kids' surgeries? If you're not, try taking a portion of what you were paying for that and applying it toward the credit card.
You could also try to roll that balance over into a small equity loan, or, depending on whether or not your vehicles have any value [and currently have no liens] you could refinance a vehicle to pay that off. I'm sure your payments would be smaller. |

due to what you've had going on--just ask them what it will take to settle the debt and do that. it won't hurt your credit as bad as them sueing you. |

I would just suck it up and keep paying it off as you can. Try to stay current to protect your credit.
If you go through one of those services to pay less, it goes on your credit as a write-off and even with the other good things in the PAST, that one bad thing will really damage your credit. |
