Why would you get a credit card after filing bankruptcy??
First off, you couldn't pay your bills to begin with.
Second, the interest rate would blow your mind.
Wait the 7 years till it's off your record THEN try again. |

I would start by getting a secured credit card. You would have to put a deposit down, but it would be the easiest way to reestablish your credit. One company that I recommend to clients is Cross Country Bank. They report to all 3 of the credit bureaus, so that will help your scores. Once you take out this credit card you will get offers from other companies within a couple of months and you can cancel the secured one. If you don't want to try the secured card, then Capital One usually give credit to anyone. I would try them first and then try to get a gas card from your favorite gas station. Those are fairly easy to obtain as well. |

Okay I had to reply to this question and agree with NJBadboy because everyone else was giving bad advice instead of answering the question.
I know that we get our self's in debt than go and file bankruptcy but sometimes you have no other choice. You do not know ones situation to give a negative comment. Matter of fact I am about to do the same because my debt is way to much for me to pay. I am already paying out of the butt just to live. Sometimes if you do not have anything positive to say than you need to keep your comments to yourself.
Good Luck on finding a credit card that will help you reestablish yourself. Just make sure you are care full with your credit this time. |

First to those other posters with their negative comments, you are suppose to be answering the question, not to post your opinion in regards to the individual or his/her situation!!! If you have nothing helpful to say, then please don't make such idiotic comments!!!!
OK, Kenrb12, you would probably have to get the secured credit cards since you just filed a bankruptcy, there are many places you can do that with just $500 or so. Then try to use it for everyday stuff like groceries, gas, etc., then make sure you pay them on time to rebuild your credit.

Providian, but they are evil. I suggest you budget your money more efficiently. My family has been through two bankruptcies. Luckily, it was before the law change. I suggest no more credit cards ever. |

i work for bankruptcy attorneys and the credit card companies to start with are Providian and Orchard Bank..they seem to give cards to people who have filed and went to their creditors meeting even though they have not received their discharge papers yet..
don't get discouraged, only get one or two and make sure youd don't get in over your head. |
