Your employer probably will fire you if they find out. I seriously doubt someone will not report the money and purse. Do the right thing give it to your boss. He/she will respect you for it. Is the purse and the money worth losing your job? |

The money should be turned over to the hotel manager. You are a representative of the hotel and could loose your job if you do not turn it in to hotel. Someone will be calling about it sooner or later. If you keep it they will probably call you a thief. |

you should hand it over to the police. They'll keep it for a certain number of days to give the owner a chance to claim it, and if no one does, they give the money back to you.
Nearly a thousand dollars is a lot of money to just keep to yourself. I can almost guarantee someone is looking for that purse. |

I was going to say turn it over to your boss and get a receipt. However, even boss's get greedy and they could find someone who said they lost their money and split it with them. You could put an add in the paper and just say you found something and if they could identify it they will get it back. Just don't say anything to anybody at work or home. Hope nobody claims it. |

hey if you turn it in and no one comes back for it you get to keep it in a couple of weeks. this is a tough one, because if i were in your situation i don't know what would drive me more - my need to do the right thing or my greed. because if i had lost that much $ i would hope for someone to leave it back. but then again.....the little devil on my shoulder is very persuasive. i don;t know. are you well off? if so, do the right thing and give it to the police. you never know, maybe your good deeds will reward you. |

I'd wait for at least 1 week. Especially if you work at a hotel. People could realize they lost there purse when they get home from there trip or when boarding the airplane or some other random time. At least a week is good enough time. All I can say is one last word to this *KARMA*. good luck. |

Of course not! That's almost $1000, and even if it was less you should report it to your employer. Keeping it would be dishonest; and what if someone comes back for it later when you've decided to use it and find out that you have their money? You could get into some serious trouble. |

keep the $$ it will teach the owner to be more responsible with their belongings.
BUT......
Use that money to give back to society. Donate clothing to nursing homes, books to church, food to humane society, snacks at homeless shelter, flowers for the sick, care packages to soldiers.
