I get strange phone calls from other states asking for people i dont know. and its involving credit/money...?
one call was from new mexico from some Ford credit place asking for a guy named george, the other was from nevada inquiring abotu some recent debit perchances on his "shazaam" debit card, this time they were asking for a guy names dennis. So, for one, I'm a woman, and for two i only have a debit card and i checked it and there arent any strange charges and i also recently checked my credit score/history and nothing new was there. is this a case of stolen identity? or they seriously got the wrong number? cuz i live in southern california not nevada or new mexico. if they used my social security number wouldnt they have to use my name as well? and why would they use my cell number?

I wouldn't worry too much. Somebody probably just used your phone number as a fake number. I doubt if they have any other information on you. They probably just made up a number at random and it happened to be yours. Just tell them that you've never heard of this person and it's been your number for a long time, so it must be a fake.

Just don't provide any of YOUR personal information to anyone that calls you on the phone.

I don't like to even verify information anymore.

Probably is someone who had your address or used it. I like to mess with those idiots who call me at all hours of the day and night asking for Joe Bob Whoever. I tell them he's in jail, or he's at their mama's house, and stuff like that. That usually stops them from calling again.

Phone companies recycle old numbers way too fast.
I had the same problem when I got my 1st cell phone.I was getting calls 3-4 times a week from bill collectors looking for some lady I never heard of before.
After 2 years of this I finally got my number changed.

If you recently got your cell number, they could be calling for the person that had it before you. I know that my boyfriend gets calls like this regularly, because he has a work phone that someone else had before him. Good luck!

cowboy_from_sc
al it is that the person who had that number(s) b4 you did screwed up andthat the number they have so they gonna call it even tho it aint that person no more

hey,

it's probably because the person who had your phone number before you owed places money, so they call your number, but the person before you canceled that account, but the companies don't know it.

I hope that helped!
