Just relax and breathe....don't let all the negative people make you even more upset.
First off...did you give these people your bank account number to deposit the money into or did they send you a check? If they have your bank account number, you need to go into the bank, get a new account, transfer all the money into the new account and close the old one. If there are items still pending and you cannot close the old account yet, explain to the bank the situation and ask them to put a freeze on the account so no other transactions are made. It is important that you do this immediately, since they now have access to your bank account.
Second...do not go to Western Union or use the money for a down payment on their house. This is a scam. The money you received is not real. It will disappear from your bank account. DO NOT ever accept money from someone on craigslist this way. There are so many different scams, it is unbelievable.
Third...don't use craigslist to find a job. Try your local newspaper. Serious employers will pay the money to have a job opening listed. If you are still looking for babysitting, try hanging up flyers where people take their children, like Peter Piper, Chucky Cheese, places like that.
Just relax....the $80 you already spent will have to come out of your own money, but the rest or anything else missing should be handled by the bank. Everything will be ok :) |

I totally understand what you are saying. But let me tell you that there was never any babysitting job. They were not having you send money toward their down payment. You fell for one of the oldest scams in the book. Be very glad that it snowed and you did not go to Western Union yet. Because in a few days those checks will come back as bad and your bank will remove the funds from your account. If that puts you in the negative(overdraft) you are the one responsible to pay it back. From what it sounds like now it may only be about 80 dollars.
The people you need to contact is your bank's Fraud department. Let them know you probably deposited checks that are bad and need to know what to do. Mostlikelyy they won't do anything beyond requiring you to pay back any of the money that you spent.
If by "transfered" you mean that you gave them your bank acccount information. Notify your bank of that also.

You spent someone elses money? And reporting it to the fraud dept of who? Craigslist isnt the cops. You defrauded people out of thier money, and now your upset. If this is what happen, you are in trouble and deserve to be, you stole from someone. OR.
Did someone send money and the check bounced but you spent money before you knew that it bounced and now you dont know what to do because your bank is charging you fees. Im not really sure what your saying. Anything that sounds too good to be true, usually is. |

The scam is that the money you send is real. The fake check was not. You have to pay the bank back, but at least it's only $80. |

I fail to see where you got defrauded. All I see is you scamming someone out of money. I'm rather confused by the whole situation. Why would someone send you money for their house? It all sounds rather dodgy to me. I'd just send the money back and be done with it. |
