I have a friend in the UK, who was Greek and had a £2k loan from HSBC when she was a student, which she decided she was not going to pay back. She changed her address, and eventually she got a few calls from the bank, but when they called she said she was someone else. This is 6 or 7 years ago. She never paid the money back. She just opened an account in another bank, with a new passport. So with a different passport number, and a different address. She just claims to be "someone else" now. She still lives in the UK.

There is no question that what you are doing is illegal, however, it is doubtful that the bank will come after you hard.

The loan is unsecured, and if you have no assets in the UK, I can't see how they can force you to pay. If you leave without telling them that you won't pay, it's very doubtful that they'll be able to do anything to you in Italy. Especially, since they don't know you're going.

UK banks know very little about your activities in other countries, even if you have an account at the same bank in the other country. Definitely between the UK and Greece (which is also EU), there is a very very weak link. I don't know about the UK and Italy, and there is talk of the banks working closer together in the near future.

It's possible you might have a problem, but very very unlikely I believe.

Good luck.

that is stealing--seriously, they will find you. Whomever gave you a loan has very poor judgement.

Yes, you are responsible for your debts and you will be arrested in Italy.

Yes I'm afraid so. Your name will be blacklisted in the UK and Europe and beyond because among other things they will record a judgement against you. Your date of birth, Nationality, last known address, employers address is known to your creditor. If you ever try to get another loan, you will have to give your date of birth and other personal details which tracks you . You will have to repay this loan with costs and interest and you will never get another loan again. You can go to Jail for ignoring your creditors. I suggest you talk to whoever gave you the loan and be up front with them. Work out a plan and stick to the plan. They will listen and be reasonable. But if you play a game with them they will show you no mercy at all. Hope this helps.

just leave, they wont be able to track you down you are in another country. if the loan is a big amount maybe they willll invest a little money to track you down. but if its a small loan they wont go through the trouble of finding you
