I did the credit app through the dealership (it went through 7 or 8 lenders--Wells Fargo was the only one to approve me because I have bad credit). Anyway, I was approved for a loan, but the down payment had to be 20% of the loan amount, and for the car I was looking at, that was a bit more than I could afford just then (there was also a stipulation that the car had to be at least an '06). This dealership didn't have many other qualifying cars to choose from that came a little cheaper.

What I am wondering is, since they approved my app (though the credit request was withdrawn) would it be reasonable to think that if I contacted Wells Fargo directly I would be able to get financing and then just go to whatever dealership I wanted (where, hopefully I could find a slightly less expensive vehicle)??

Is there any reason they might reject me because I am not applying for credit through a dealership??
