That isn't much at all. You can have that paid off in less than a year. Just pay more than the minimum payment each month.

Pay more than the minimum, stop charging on the card. If you have multiple cards, pay down the balance on the highest interest rate first, then the others.

I think its better to pay down the card debt first, instead of trying to save any extra cash -- cuz face it, money that has interest compounded at 20% (credit card) is going to balloon a lot faster than that money sitting in a savings account making .5% if you're lucky.

You can also take out a lower-interest loan to pay it off faster, and pay down the loan.

Good luck!

1. Cut up the card.
2. Pay your bills through online banking, not the mail.
3. Set up your online banking account to send the $100 week to the company.
4. It's a lot, but in eighteen weeks, you'll be pretty close to paid off.
5. If you can't do $100 a week, try $50, but do the payments weekly.
6. Better yet, if you can send a payment every day, send $20 a day, or send $5 and swear off Starbucks for a year.
7. Then, if you ever get a windfall, throw a bunch of money at it.

Start paying more than the minimum amount and then dont use the credit cards at all.

Apply for another card with an "Interest-free period on Balance Transfer's", that way, your debt will stop growing due to interest.

You will usually get about 13 months interest free on Balance Transfers, with a (one off) transfer fee between 2.5% and 3%. As 3% of the £1800, it's only £36 for your 13 months.

(WARNING!!! If you don't do this £36 step, you will pay about £200 in interest (based on average 17.9% APR))

With this part set up, you just need to pay £5 per day (£152 per average month) for 12 months, then the final one-off payment of £16 in the final (13th) month.

Getting through this debt just means doing about an extra hours work every day (that's just above minimum wage, after paying tax).

Simple

Thanks for asking for help

P.S. When applying for the Balance Transfer, try to avoid applying at any HSBC or RBS owned bank (Natwest is owned by RBS), as these two banks have been hit the hardest by the global Credit Crunch, so may be unable to offer the full £1,800.

First, stop using the card, then pay at least double the minimum payment each month. It will be paid off in no time.

Credit card debt consolidation adds up all your unpaid balances and converts them into a single payment. When you finalize a plan with a debt consolidation company, the company repays your dues to your creditors. Then you make a single payment to the consolidation company every month. Your average new interest rate is much below the old interest rate.

$1,800 or $18,000

$1,800 consider yourself lucky

amyisrad12
Don't use it anymore, and pay it off ASAP. Don't open any accounts to transfer the balance to and don't do debt consolidation... $1,800 is small potatoes compared to most people. Good Luck!
