LEWIS | I have a £2K overdraft with Lloyds TSB which they want back by Nov 26th, 2007? |
Hi, I have had an overdraft with Lloyds TSB for a few years now, totaling £2000. They now want to take it back on the 26th November, 2007. However, financially I am not able to pay it back right now and want to extend it for another 12 months. They have refused. Are they allowed to do this? |

of course they are its their money.. get yourself applying for 0% credit cards to transfer it all onto there and dont get yourself in a position again where a bank can bully you like that |

screwed by a bank again......
god I hate banks for this, they pick you up.
and when you need them most throw you to the ground.
Tell them You are claiming back your bank charges, & unfortunatly untill this test that the banks are doing has past, you are not able to clear off the total balance, but will pay £150 per month on a 0% interest holding. or whatever you can afford.

read initial agreement.

it .i am sure they will be open to any sensible solution.good luck |

I got myself into the same mess with them several years ago. Go in and make an appointment to speak to someone. I tried on the phone and got no where until I saw them. They still closed my overdraft facilities but I was allowed to pay back in installments with interest of course but it bought me some time. |

they are allowed to take it of course, but you should meet with a personal banker at your local branch and discuss it.
they might be able to provide you a low percent personal loan and you will be paying in monthly installments.
DON'T borrow from TV advertised loan agencies or Credit cards. Their APR are much bigger than your bank would offer you. |

They are allowed to do this but the best bet is to speak to them and make an agreement to pay it off over a period of time, they should agree to this.
Just to be on the safe side, I would open an account somewhere else because if they want to be really funny about it they could close your account and pass the debt on to a collecitons agency. That happened to me years ago with Yorkshire Bank. |

Get in touch with them immediately to discuss the matter. They will go through your finances and if there is any slack probably arrange a loan to pay it off |

They certainly are ! . Banks all over the world are starting to 'reel -in' their money, from bad risk situations . Readers be prepared ---- cut down that debt ! . ( You could always threaten to transfer your overdraft to another bank ). ha ! ha! |

Pay it off with a 0% credit card (they usually provide credit cheques) you will pay a small charge but it will get Lloyds off your back |

You might want to speak with a credit counsellor. Fortunately, the service is free throughout the UK. |

I'm assuming this is with the bank and not credit card - I'm guessing you have direct debits set up with this account also...so not so easy to close.
They are within their rights to request the money back but you can make an offer of paying this amount back over several months, write to them (KEEP ALL COPIES!!) offering to pay a certain amount each month, depending on your circumstances £10-20 P/M can be offered, until you're in a better position to pay it in full.
If they refuse then this will work in your favour since you have made them an offer of repayment due to your current cicumstances. The courts don't take to kindly to those companies that refuse reasonable offers of repayments.
(again its difficult to advise over financial matters when we know little about you or the full background surrounding this)
I hope the above helps. |

If it's not in your account then obviously they can't take it off you. Make an appointment to see someone at your local branch (phoning up gets you nowhere) and make a proposal to reduce the overdraft by a certain amount each month ... for e.g £150 per month (or whatever you can afford) - As long as they see you are prepared to reduce the debt then they're usually quite helpful.
Good luck!! |

Well I suppose they are really, its their money at the end of the day and obviously we dont know your full story here.
Saying all of this the bank cant take what you dont have! You need to arrange to go in and speak to them face to face in order to resolve this matter in the best possible way. Maybe also try to make contact with your local Citizens Advice Bureau too, I know years ago when I was in a lot of debt CAB really helped me get things sorted, they helped me contact people I owed money to and make offers of repayment etc. Its taken me many times to learn by mistakes but now, for the first time in 10+ years I am now finally debt free and it feels absolutely fantastic!!! Speak to the bank or CAB, make some kind of offer to repay this debt. If it ends up going to court and you have tried to make a repayment offer the court will side with you as you are making an effort to repay this, if you dont make them an offer the court will sting you and also slap court costs on you too!!!
Tacke care and I hope you get it all sorted |

do not pay it off with a credit card as that just moves the problem but does not solve it.go and talk to the manager and arrange terms,at the end of the day it is their money but i would be very surprised if they played hard ball, especially if you can make concrete proposals.no court will act against you if you make such proposals and back them up so do not worry, the bank is trying to scare you -dont let them, just do as i suggest and you will be fine. |
