Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.
I will hereby talk from my personal experience.
I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

Most banks will either issue an Electron or Solo debit card. I've got one which I can use to get cash, shop on line or use in most shops. I would never upgrade card as the temptation is too great. With these cards you can only spend what you have in your account. |

firstly....they do check your credit, but you can get one, you just probably wont get an overdraft (or knowing the good old credit industry they will and youll run into more debt)
You'll have to shop around a bit as some banks will accept you and some wont! (apply online takes the embarrasment away of any refusal in the bank) and it will probably be a Visa Electron instead of just a goold old Visa debit, Electron is accepted in most stores now |

YES DEFINITELY! Co-operative bank have a basic bank account that you will be accepted for and it has a VISA ELECTRON debit card with it. Natwest also have a step account which has a solo or maestro card with it. Its only credit cards that you will probably not get.

your bank will probably not issue you with a visa debit card,they might give you a electron card,which can be used as a bedit card but not everyone takes them,it also acts as a hole in the wall card,one thing is true,if you got bad credit rating it takes years to repair,try credit scoring agents like equifax,if you dont know why your score is bad then they can help you sort it.. |

Go to your bank manager. Talk with him or the officer that handles personal accounts. A debit card is not a credit card. You will probably not be given overdraft privileges, but you should certainly be able to get a debit card. If you have insufficient funds for a purchase, the machine will simply deny you the transaction.
You can restore your credit rating by purchasing a prepaid credit card from your bank. You will be sent a regular statement, you pay the balance in order to maintain the prepaid amount, and after about a year, you will have improved your credit score. |

yes you can. Banks do not check your credit score, they look at something called "chequesystems" which lists the names of people that have written bad checks at other banks in the US and have not paid that off yet. If you have a negative account with another bank, then they will tell you to get that cleared up and have them faxed a letter from the bank saying it has been taken care of. if they will not offer you a checking account to get a debit card, then you should still be able to get a savings account and an ATM card. |

Yes. Debit cards access your personal bank account. If there is no money in your account, the card is useless. When your card is swiped at a store, your usage history is checked and if you have a history of using your card without sufficient funds in the bank, the card may come back declined. This can be inconvenient in the long run, even if you have enough money to cover the transaction, you may still be declined. Also, watch your account closely for fraudulent charges. Check it daily. There are not as many consumer protections on a debit card but it you catch it quickly, you have a much better chance of fixing the problem Good luck on repairing your credit! |
