I CAN NOT ask the person who wrote it to re-issue. Long story, but I can't. The front of the check is fine. The back has a picture printed on it...it stuck to my printing paper, unbeknownst to me, and ran through the printer. (Haha. How dumb.) Can I still cash this check if the front is fine but the back has a picture of the Statue of Liberty??

The back has nothing to do with the check. As long as the account numbers, the signature, the pay to and amounts are visible, you have absolutely ZERO problem.
So just go cash it.

As long as the bank transit number and checking account routing numbers are clear...as well as the amount and signature...you shouldn't have a problem....Still, take it to the bank first to make sure. |

It depends on your bank. If you have been with the bank for a few years and are in good standing with the bank and go to one location to cash deposits then there should be no problem because the bank knows you well. Or if the clerk says no then you may have to talk to the bank manager. If the front of the check is fine then there shoulden't be any problem.
From my knowledge it depends on your bank.

I think you can cash it, but you may have to go into the bank personally. Only the encoded printing matters on a check, but you will have trouble endorsing it, which is why you need to go into the bank -- your bank -- so they can see you personally sign the check. |
