I quote from the 2007 edition of the Consumer Action Handbook "There are credit repair companies out there that advertise that they can erase bad credit for a hefty fee. Don't Believe them".
There is nothing that they can do that you can not do yourself. All the do is send letters disputing the item and hope the credit bureaus do not respond in the 30 days allowed.
Sometimes this works but even if it does, the lenders can provide the information after the 30 days and it will reappear on your credit report.
Don't waste your money.
As long as the information is correct, nothing can be removed from your report. |

Use the $300 to pay off your debt. The guy will just take your money and run.
Only way to repair your credit is to pay your bills on time. |

It's a scam. No one can legally remove accurate and timely negative information from a credit report. The law allows you to ask for an investigation of information in your file that you dispute as inaccurate or incomplete. There is no charge for this. Everything a credit repair clinic can do for you legally, you can do for yourself at little or no cost. |

Believe me, it's a scam. This "Credit Repair" thing has been around for years. The only one that can "repair" your credit is you by sort of starting over, pay off debts, call credit agencies to see if they can lower your monthly bill, pay everything on time.
It takes a long time, but if you can handle your payments, over a period of years your credit rating will begin to improve. |

Just say no!
Credit repair is one of the biggest scams out there. The only thing that is going to "repair" your credit is your own actions in timely payments and responsible borrowing. |

I agree with Robin L. You'll either wind up paying the guy more money, or you'll get ripped off.
There are tons of techniques for fixing your own creditl and they don't cost anything.
Look at the one the guy before recommended at

you can do it yourself and all it cost is price of certified mail.we tried credit counselor, was a waste of money, paid over 300 for a book telling us how to do it,which we knew that, they guarantee it will be done in 30 to 60 days, thats a lie, takes that long just to get a response from credit bureaus.email me if you want.would be happy to help. |

My goodness, all this negativity!
There certainly are ways to get these items removed from your credit report. But it usually involves an insider at the credit bureau "accidentally" hitting the wrong key, or by bribing someone at the collection agency.
So what you do is hire this guy, but refuse to pay him until he has cleared all of the negative items from your report.
True, they may come back later.......but you can just pay this guy another $300. |

Do it yourself for 20 bucks; I did with a kit I got at www.creditrepair101site.com.........If you insist on paying someone, check out www.aperfectsolution.us .....it costs 125.....my aunt used it because she is lazy. Good luck. |

I know it can be tempting to pay someone a few bucks to make the problem go away. Unfortunately, it's not quite that easy.
$300 is usually just a starting point. A lot of the "credit repair" services will either take the initial fee and disappear, or tell you they need additional money to finish the job.
Save your money. You can do a better job on your own.

Good luck. I hope things work out for you! |

Credit repair companies are a scam. Anything they can do, you can do yourself legally and free. Basically pull your 3 bureaus for free at http://www.annualcreditreport.com . Then make a list of everything you owe. Now determine what you can pay a month and start paying. I would start with paying the smallest thing first. This will take time to repair your credit, but time and responsibility is the only way to repair your credit. |

Whatever he can do, you can do yourself.
Best thing to do is to pay off the debts you owe. This will help your overall credit rating. |
